I think if you consider it from a family's point of view they'd certainly notice. Even just on wristbands alone that's a very noticeable increase for a family of four.

If you then further think about how parents might've just purchased a diamond pass for them and then wristbands for the kids, that's a really substantial increase. I hope I'm wrong, I want the park to do well this year, but I do fear families will be put off.
I agree some people will notice - no dispute on that, I challenge that the difference will not make a difference to vast swathes of the visitor base if you're already spending £120+ on the day out as a whole. Put that against a background of high demand and short supply - I think they will be fine.

I think it's about a £10-£12 price hike per person compared to the 10 day advance price they were doing pre covid. Pretty sure for our works trip in 2019 it was £27 per person for a Saturday in June.

That's quite a big jump in price if you are paying for a family of 4.
It's a jump, for sure but I think it's happening against a backdrop of everything being more expensive. Plus, I think a number of price rises that should have happened over time are being compounded. In 2002 a wristband was £25, in the 2019 it was £27 - that doesn't feel right. The minimum wage increased from £3.50 to £8.50 in that time.

Interestingly, for our jolly boys trip of last year ... the Henson was £25 each per night, this year on the same dates it would be £40.

Edit - just found the WhatsApp. Big Blue would have been £78, this year it would be £95. BLVD would have been £87, this year it would be £126. Appreciate it's early days - but that's seemingly demand driven pricing.

From the video the park released you set up both tickets on your phone and scan it. The turnstile will then unlock for two people to go through.

Glad they realised that would be an issue with this system.
Thanks, that doesn't sound so bad.

I guess the biggest problem would be if we split up and i wanted to go on one ride and he wanted to go on another.

Perhaps easier to get a wristband from the off? Sounds like it would be miles easier.

Pleasure Beach have really ramped up their prices. 1st May, which admittedly is a 10pm close, is £40.00 in advance. Indeed, many other dates are £38.00. This is the same or more expensive than any UK Merlin park online. It's more than the London parks.

30th October is £44.00 online. What the hell? Or a great value evening wristband from 6pm... £34.00!?

Mad...
I'm afraid petrol has shot up too, and prices of some foods. the cheap Alton Towers season pass has gone too.

With the joint economic hits of Covid and Brexit, life is getting more expensive for all.

Can i do that? It only gave me the option of E tickets when i booked. You're quite right, wristbands are what we have always used in the past, much better for me. No need to keep getting the phone out, and him and I can split and go our seperate ways.

@Mikw

Q – What if the battery on my phone runs out?

A – Blackpool Pleasure Beach offers a number of charging points in venues around the park. Please ask a member of staff for details of their locations during your visit should you require this. In addition to this souvenir branded charging banks are available to purchase in our retail stores.

If you are unable to use your phone for any reason or if during your visit you can visit Guest Services and be issued with a Wristband instead.

Also thinking about this, I think BPB kept their online price low to compete/match with the Merlin 2for1 prices (gate price of £40/50 gives a £20/25 entry so a £25 wristband is comparable). But with the pre-booking there may well be more people paying the £34/38 online price at the Merlin parks as well so it makes more sense for BPB to start to use that to benchmark against too.

A lot of this also comes down to whether the consensus is that the BPB product is worth the same money as the ATR product. But that's going to be a can of worms and clearly those who think BPB is the best park in the UK will think so, and those that don't won't.

:D

I’d say that the split opinion between Towers and BPB on that best park accolade probably shows there is not a great deal which separates the parks in the grand scheme of things; it most likely comes down to your personal preference, rather than there being any great difference.

Assuming they are objectively relatively equal, it’s appropriate that their entry price is now also as close as it is. I think the biggest component of this sticker shock is that there has to have been such a single large increase to better align the prices.

Interestingly, there are now rumours circulating that the park’s former mascot, Mr Funshine, may be making a return for this season, which have been backed up by this picture on Twitter:

I honestly wouldn’t be too surprised if Mr Funshine is making a return, what with it being BPB’s 125th anniversary season this year.

The park does seem to be on a bit of a nostalgia drive as of late if Mr Funshine is returning, as there were also rumours circulating about Beaver Creek returning as well. I’m not complaining if they are, as I think it’s nice for a park like BPB to focus on their history!

The section is pivotal piece just before the mid-course break run i.e the sections where the train begins to slow down.
It's the bit after the mid-course, right?
