Theme park related dreams you’ve had?

Hi guys. Last night, I had a really weird theme park related dream...

Basically, me and my dad were riding Valhalla at Blackpool Pleasure Beach. The exterior looked exactly the same, however the differences started once we got inside. For starters, the infamous ring of fire had been relocated to the first lift hill as opposed to being on the final drop, but the main weird thing that happened was; after the first lift hill, both the water ride system and my dad completely disappeared into thin air, and I then found myself alone in a scare maze-style attraction. For some reason, I was given various doors to look through to see if I could find my way to the attraction’s finale. Eventually, I found my way to the finale, and it was weird; I was greeted in the finale room by Amanda Thompson and a giant box. Amanda didn’t initially acknowledge me, but as soon as I entered the room, she shouted “RELEASE THE CHICKEN!”. I would then discover that she was referring to the contents of the giant box, which turned out to be a giant chicken that she ordered to chase me and attack me. It then became one of those dreams where I desperately tried to run away from the chicken, but I couldn’t. Even though Amanda was angrily shouting at me “RUN, YOU STUPID BOY!”, I was motionless, unable to escape the giant killer chicken. So the dream ended with this giant chicken attacking me and (presumably) killing me; that was the point where I woke up.

I know it sounds very weird, but that’s what actually happened, word for word...

But have you ever had a theme park or ride-related dream before? I’ll see if I can think of some more, as I’m sure that isn’t the only one...

At first I was going to reply, what drugs have you been taking, then I realised I actually get quite a few theme park related dreams, I can never remember them but when I wake up I get annoyed at the inaccuracies in them. (Tomb Blaster is at Chessington not Alton Towers)

Oh, I have ones like that all the time; my dreams have never made any sense, whether they’re theme park related or not!

I had another one once where they’d turned Duel back into “The Haunted House”, but the catch was that it had VR; I don’t remember the ride itself, but I remember seeing that the zombie animatronic that’s currently outside holding a gun had had the gun taken away, and now had a VR headset covering its eyes...

Very rarely remember dreams but there’s one I can specifically remember is me trying to balance walk across the fencing in Zadra’s queue line whilst holding about 5 big bottles of coke in my hands, I kept dropping them which meant I couldn’t ride it that day... make sense of that.

I have no dreams to share but the thought of Amanda Thompson shouting RUN YOU STUPID BOY while an oversized chicken chases you had me absolutely cackling this morning. I can even hear it in her voice :tearsofjoy:
After I’d had time to process the dream a bit (it was one of those ones where I woke up really quite shocked and breathless initially, presumably after being mauled to death by a giant chicken), I‘ll admit that I couldn’t help but chuckle to myself about it!

I've mentioned it before, but when I was little I had a recurring dream/nightmare of riding a coaster but when it returns the station is on fire and we slowly roll into the burning building, trapped in our seats by the restraint.

Could happen!

Blimey sounds like a Freddy Kruger nightmare. On the plus side at least you’d die doing what you love the most

I've actually had several anxiety dreams recently about my upcoming trip to towers with my boyfriend where my entire family show up and keep delaying actually going into the park to the point where we never go in, or never manage to get on any rides :tearsofjoy: I think it's because I'm very stressed for the trip to be perfect haha.

That's terrifying! Definitely won't be thinking of that for every ride I go on now...

Sorry to bump this thread, but I had another pretty weird, and slightly morbid, theme park-related dream last night…

Basically, it concerns Duel at Alton Towers. For starters, the ride was in Dark Forest instead of Gloomy Wood, but that’s not the important bit.

In this dream, an elderly woman had died within Duel a couple of weeks before my ride. However, the park was being incredibly nonchalant about it, brushing aside any criticism and brushing aside the death as “nothing to be worried about”; Nick Varney even did a TV interview where he said “Why is this even news? People die of heart attacks every day, and why is our ride any different to her living room chair?”. He then proceeded to shoo the reporters away with some rather choice language…

This is where it gets weird; they were so nonchalant about it that they actually kept the woman’s body and put it into Duel as a new piece of theming… heck, they even marketed its addition (“DUEL: NOW WITH ACTUAL DEAD PERSON” was what I remember the TV advert saying…).

The park had said officially that this was due to feedback saying that guests wanted more “realistic” theming within attractions, but I went onto TowersStreet, and the members on TS had other ideas; the common consensus on here was that it was “yet another Merlin cost-saving tactic” to prevent them from having to actually refurbish Duel… the vlogging community was very enthusiastic, however, and they all went down to see the dead body on the ride’s reopening day, with rave reviews accompanying their visits!

Anyway, onto my ride. When I rode Duel, I would discover that the “change” was very obvious as soon as you got into the slanted section of the indoor queue; in this room, the body had been placed onto a rocking chair. The park was displaying it very proudly, with a sign promoting it, and every few seconds, strobe lighting and that zombie screaming sound that Duel uses drew attention to it. After seeing this, I got onto the ride, which was mostly normal apart from the fact that the park had taken some of the dead woman’s outfits from her family and dressed each zombie in the ride in one of them, as well as a white “old lady” wig… the park said that it was so riders would feel the body’s presence throughout the ride!

The ride exit is where things get weird again. Instead of the current wallpapered corridor with paintings up, the park had built a giant viewing window looking into the indoor queue line so that guests could take one last look at the body. When I was in this section, the woman actually woke up. Naturally, I ran away as quickly as my legs could carry me, but it was later said on the news that the woman wasn’t actually dead, but had merely fallen asleep on Duel… Nick Varney then reappeared on the TV looking very smug, and saying “See? Not even news!”…

I know many people want Duel refurbished, but I sincerely hope Merlin never resorts to this idea…

I love how that basically sums up Alton Towers and this forum in the late 2010s, you're one hell of a writer Matt!
What can I say; I think I’m just an unusually vivid dreamer!

Admittedly, some of the details are based a touch on inference, as dreaming is of course not your most alert state, but the vast majority of the things in that dream are things I remember very well!

This is amazing. I wish my dreams were as interesting as yours!

I agree with @NuttySquirrel what a completely odd but brilliant dream. Mine are just all about stuff I've got to do or sometimes something I want to do.

I quite frequently have dreams involving The American Adventure in some form or other - it's often one of the last things I think about before falling asleep as I find the process of visualising the place is a helpful distraction when my mind is busy with thought. Pleasure Beach is another one but it doesn't work so well, with the place still being open it's not particularly hard work visualising being stood in there.

I can't usually remember my dreams and when I can they're usually to do with something I need to do the next day but I had a dream last night that I remember vividly.
It started with my and my family driving down the road to the old Camelot theme park and eventually parking up and going into the park. We went past all the old attractions all of which were operating but they're was no one in the park but us (I have no idea who was operating the rides).
Perhaps it is just to do with the fact I miss the place as I used to really enjoy the park as a kid even if it didn't add anything it was very special to me and I used to look forward to going every year.

Sorry to bump, but I had a less in-depth one last night.

Basically, I was going on Fluch der Kassandra at Europa Park (the park’s madhouse), but it looked totally different; it was themed like an Egyptian temple, and had flamethrowers in the centre of the madhouse!

Also, I had for some reason packed a book, and I decided to read it during the pre-show. I got so caught up in the book that I never realised the ride had let guests into it, so I didn’t realise I needed to go into the room until a very angry ride operator came and shouted at me before dragging me into the main room… everyone else in the room was strangely forgiving, however, and actually started clapping when I sat down! I woke up before the ride started, however…
