Scarefest 2021

It will be interesting for sure, how will the horror/German event be layed out, could we see the parks do a blend of the two on some days?

I certainly enjoyed the entertainments of this year; the fair atmosphere on the lawn was amazing. I really hope they keep the whole fair set-up next year and even develop on it, as covid or not it seems to work really well and makes visiting Scarefest have an atmosphere whether you do the mazes or not.

How about mazes? It will be interesting to see which ones they decide to keep/lose, in my opinion the most likely one is AMT but we'll have to see.

Hopefully Darkest Depths will be more reliable next year! Missed out on Thursday as it was closed due a technical issue (which was rumoured to be a leaking roof), and apparently it's essentially been SBNO since last Friday 23rd. :(

If we go by maze age, then yeah Mine Tours would be the one to go, however there would be an expectation of replacing it with a suitable attraction instead (Scare zones or another maze). Mine Tours is a superbly themed attraction, and I don't think they will have the resources to replace it with something better or on a similar level. I personally think that if Sub Species was a maze that could work with social distancing, they wouldn't have made any changes to their line up at all and would have just kept it as Depths, Sub, Attic, and Mine Tours for 2020. I don't see social distancing measures changing for a while so I think it might be safe to expect the maze line up to stay as what we got for this year.

I think social distancing will hurt the potential development of the event next year, as they will want to reduce roaming actors to avoid crowding, and scare zones... Well we all saw Thorpe Park, and those scare zones were really bad for social distancing, like... really bad!

Perhaps we could see a return of live attractions such as Duel Live, minus the batching process with the butler. I think we need more attractions for younger folk, but not too young. I don't imagine too many kids around 10/11 enjoy watching the dances on the stages.

I'm personally hopeful for some more permanent lighting around the park. Dark Forest needs it badly! Some queues are also very poorly lit, Galactica I had to take my phone torch out so I could see where I was stepping in the extended queue.

I do think Mine Tours is really well themed and I agree that Darkest Depths needs to be more reliable!

Although Mine Tours is the most likely to go if they do remove a maze, I suspect the line-up will stay the same (as you said) or another maze will be added. The mazes were extremely successful this year so maybe they will invest/bring back another.

Skyscraper since you missed out on darkest depths, here is a full-spoiler walkthrough if you'd like to know what happened (and for anyone else).
DARKEST DEPTHS SPOILERS (Please could someone put this in a spoiler tag - I don't know how)
So first you went into a tavern that was different from last years in which it had a L shaped table in which you stood around. After a few effects and story-telling you headed into the ship which had mermaid statues, stone walls, wooden stairs, bottles and a few actors who were being sick/getting worried about the kraken. After this there was a strobe section where there was flooding water and actors rushing you through; the ship was flooding. After this, you went into a passage with screens showing sirens flying around and rock walls, as well as a sandy floor. Then you went into this beautiful room which was very tall (higher than shipping containers) and reached up at least 5m with theming such as vines, rocks, sand, fabric and blue/green lights; this was one of the best themed rooms in the experience. Finally, you went into a room where there was kraken tentacles all around and an actor wearing a tentacle-covered mask (see Pirates of the Caribbean), who reached out and attacked you.

As long as they keep The Attic I'm happy. I've been last year and the year before, and despite Covid for last year had an amazing experience.
I really think it would be cool if they had some more entertainment going around the park. Obviously, I know it isn't practical at the moment with regulations but I liked mascots in suits and maybe some jump scares would be cool.

I really hope they keep Darkest Depths as well, as I misssed out on it last year due to technical issues and got an automatic refund. :(

maybe some jump scares would be cool.

They cut back on having larger areas with jump scares after staff got punched on Haunted Hollow. Which in a way if you aren't expecting someone to come out at you in the dark I can see why certain people react in that way. Better to have smaller more defined scare zones where it is more optional to enter.

Oh Gosh yeah, didn't really think of that.
I do that when I get jump scared too

I think if they do scare zones again they need to have a large sign at the entrance saying something along the lines of:
"You are now entering a scare zone, there are live actors who may jump out and scare you but they will not touch you. If you do not wish to enter this scare zone follow the diversion arrows".

They did have that - you have to assume that some people don't notice or read those kinds of signs in low-light though.

I think also it’s why they stopped with jump scares in Haunted Hollow as it is easier to think of it as a path and not a scare zone. but yes the other scare zones are much better defined with clear signage.

I really hope AMT doesn't close because I really think its the best themed maze out of the current lineup. To be honest if it's right that P42 is gone I don't mind all too much, I think that was one of the weaker ones. I'm also really surprised that The Attic is so popular because I found that the most boring!

I think this year The Attic and Darkest Depths will be back but I'd think the others would be replaced - AMT is great but it's had its day, I wouldn't expect Toxic Junkyard to return, I know it's only a year old but so was Molly Crowe. Guess we'll see in a few months time!

I actually think Toxic Junkyard will return, it was a well received maze. Also with it being outdoors and the fact COVID wont have fallen off the face of the earth i think they might need it.

I second that. Pretty sure Covid was the reason we got TJ in the first place.
