Pleasure Beach today:

- Staggered openings. Why?? It was rammed from the start

- Significant downtime throughout the park

- WAY over safe capacity. Crowds everywhere. No room to socially distance.

- No guests socially distancing in queue lines or wearing masks in stations, few wearing masks on rides.

- Speedypass oversold to a crazy extent. Whole trains being sent with speedypassers only

- ONE person serving a queue of at least fifteen people at FY4 bar. Took bloody ages
Why turn down this additional revenue stream? Crazy.

- Ride close not extended past 5pm despite the crazy crowds... but food outlets and shops did remain open??

- Adding further insult to the early ride close, most rides closed their queue lines well before 5pm so that staff could go home early.

Positives included The Big One being a bit smoother and fun to ride. Ghost Train looked better than it has in a while.

Absolutely shocking. I paid £35 for that day out. Really, really poor from the park and I'll be avoiding for a while.

A shame, as it was a nice day.

So sad that the Beach can't, or won't, cope better on peak days...they simply aren't fun any more.
People end up buying speedypass to make the best of a bad day, and that just slows the queues down even more.
Stopped doing the PBE stuff because it is always on a weekend, I can get on more rides on a weekday in term time in two hours than I can on a full day at the weekend.
Sunday morning dead early used to be good, but now you have to queue to get in, so that fun has gone as well.
Out of interest Mr Osborne, how many rides did you actually manage?

8 rides total. We queued about 40 minutes to grab a takeaway pint of Heineken to drink in the Icon queue (105 minutes! including a rather awkward 15 minute stop-start kerfuffle for Prince Phillip) but other than that it was wall to wall rides all day.

Big One, Steeplechase, Revolution, Wallace, Infusion, Icon, Nash, Ghost Train

Only did Big One first as literally nothing else seemed to have opened!

Your parking tip worked a treat by the way, cheers Rob

It really does seem that BPB is untenable on peak days, even more so at the moment. The above issues are disappointing, but not too surprising, to read about. They could do better in so many areas. Surely on a busy day all rides should be good to go from the off, and they shouldn’t close a queue before the ‘earliest ride close time.’

Getting food and drink must be a nightmare right now on busy days, even if you leave the park and go to Velvet Coaster there will be a queue to get an outdoor table. Hopefully all this improves when we can go back indoors to eat.

We noticed less mask wearing in stations on Monday. On Icon, the staff member even made an announcement saying that he had noticed that the queue didn’t appear to be social distancing, and asking people to give space. Everyone appeared to shrug their shoulders and ignore the request. It’s a bit stupid that people wouldn’t give others space, things may not be as bad as they have been, but we are still in the midst of a pandemic, with plenty of people yet to be vaccinated, it really shouldn’t be that hard to distance in a queue line. I got the impression that plenty of people have just given up trying.

I am so glad I get to go off peak. They need to up their game on busy days for sure. I guess it was always likely to be busy today, with it being the first weekend of the season, end of school hols for some areas, nice weather, etc. I saw that Drayton & Lightwater were sold out today, I guess BPB’s limit is a lot higher, perhaps too high, for where things are at. Perhaps in a few weeks time, the novelty of being able to do stuff again will have worn off. Went to pub earlier to try & have outdoor meal, no tables anytime soon, at another we saw the crowds & didn’t even bother asking. Novelty will wear off soon!

Didn't realise they were doing Speedy Pass at the moment! Sorry you had a frustrating day @D4n but seems like you got on a reasonable number of rides given how busy it was in the end.

If you were being kind, you'd say they are still in single figures in terms of operating days, the headaches that they would typically address in February & March, whether they be training, technical, process or general hiccups are manifesting now.

The place was buzzing today, no doubt about that, but I didn't have much intention of riding anything and my season pass cost barely £10 more than your day ticket.

Just seems the more obvious one for views of the park, having a photo taken by the sign, even for just walking part of the track and being able to get back off the track.
Nick Streak gives you views of a road and a railway track.

First off peak day today and Big One and SkyForce are both said to be down all day with little to no wind. I was skeptical last week but it does seem very odd.

EDIT: Turns out I was too cynical, Big One has now opened.

I’m thinking of visiting tomorrow , those in the know, is it worth going when the park is only open 11-5? Mostly want to ride the coasters :)

It’s the eternal struggle between longer hours and better capacity, against less people and potentially slower operations.

My guess is you’ll get more rides and a quieter park tomorrow, but with a slightly higher risk of closed rides and one train operations. Weekends at the moment are only seeing an hour’s additional opening, so if you’re going for coasters, tomorrow will likely see you being able to get more rides in.

You will get on every coaster open, and most of the dark rides etc.
First days of sunny weather off peak are busy, but the sun has been out for a while now, even in Blackpool, so you should be fine.
