Any parking tips? Heading over today and don’t fancy the extortionate prices of the on site car park !

From my (fairly limited) experience get there nice and early and you should be able to grab street parking not far from the park. I usually try the roads off Bond Street but you do need to be early for that.

I haven't been to Blackpool in about 8 years (since moving to London its more of a trek compared to from Birmingham), but when we did go regularly we always just used the huge council car parks, south car park on Yeadon Way for the Pleasure Beach https://goo.gl/maps/g9anfXAEeSD92azc8 or the central car park all the way at the end of those roads for the tower and seafront https://goo.gl/maps/3nmYqgvVKT5NDpdV8.
I think just the first time we drove up we just followed signs to car parks. One evening trip we did use the parking at pleasure beach, as it wasn't too expensive just for an evening (I think we only went to watch the show at the Globe).
It was only on our last trip, after staying at the Big Blue Hotel that the staff there tipped us off on the free on-street parking.

I think Icon is boring - it does absolutely nothing for me, this is just my opinion but I find it so overhyped and overrated. I just don't think it does anything exciting, maybe its the pacing for me to be honest. I just thought it'd be faster.

Icon loses its way in the second half definitely IMO, a good coaster leaves you with a "WOW" feeling when you hit the brakes but Icon slowly meanders its way round at the end; a very poor finale.

There's a bit around the Turtle Chase site heading toward the PMBO lift where it feels like the designer was thinking "bit boring this, let's give them some air sideways!" but the execution is an awkward tilt to the right before that long meander back to the brakes with all the creativity of Police Academy 7.

Yes, I don't really get what that right tilt is suppose to achieve.

So we are back to talking about Icon again :)

Hopefully this time next year we will be able to critically rip the new Valhalla to shreds instead ! - It will give us something different to whinge about.

I love that 3 of us already have used the term ‘meander’ in relation to Icon. Perhaps it should have been named ‘MEANDER’ and the name Icon used for a ride that is actually iconic!

Rick, your Police Academy comment made me spit bits of sandwich out all over myself with laughter. Thanks for that!

Blackpool Pleasure Beach's new soundtrack is now available on iTunes and has also been uploaded to YouTube.

Full version;

Pop version;

I absolutely adore these soundtracks, it feels like they have had real care and attention put into them with so many PB sounds and quotes from the Thompsons integrated and the singer's vocals are stunning. In particular the full version - just incredible.

Lovingly detailed, garish over-the-top schmaltz from a company whose creative sensibilities are permanently stuck a decade in the past.

In other words, absolutely perfect for BPB. Happy Birthday.

As sure as the seasons change, discussion about whether Icon is terrible or not makes its annual return :wink:

We've had extensive discussion about this over the years in both the general BPB topics and in a dedicated "Icon 3 years on" topic, which is probably best used to discuss your Icon views and leave this one for general discussion about the park this year :)

Something very relevant to BPB’s 2021 season: Does anyone know if that’s the end for the Mr Funshine shortbread biscuit ‘rounds’ ? Amanda said a few months back that Walkers were no longer making them. Perhaps they spent so much money on Icon that they can’t afford to buy in biscuits anymore :)

A few people still complaining about E-tickets, particularly parents with a number of kids who don't have phones. That does sound like a massive pain ... not sure how well understood the process for getting wristbands is, I guess it will be more so over the course of the season. I hope the park are getting some useful insight from all that data.

I am largely ok with the whole thing, there are a few oddities with the booking process that are head scratchers. If you are on the portal to use your E-ticket, can you book for another day from there? The only way I know to book a new day is follow a link that @Dipper_Dave sent me last season, but no idea how to get there from anywhere else(?).

Another curiosity is when you choose to add your E-ticket to your Google wallet, hit the link and a green tick appears but then nothing ... only after a couple of attempts did I realise it has sent me an email with another link in.

Interestingly, the park are still selling season passes for £125, do they normally offer any discount from the headline price in May? I thought not.

Great to get back to Blackpool today, for saying it was bank holiday it wasn’t overly packed inside the park. Had some good rides on icon (which was running very well and has earned some more respect from myself) , Big one and a few other coasters / flats too. managed a few pints and chill out in the middle of the day which was nice. Fantastic park, such a vibrant Atmosphere and a great variation of rides and coasters.

There are about ten million people within easy day tripping distance to Blackpool, but the late nighters do keep the local B&B's happy.
Looking forward to the September Friday nights.
