How does fast track work?

Hi

I’m after some advice on how the fast track passes actually work at Alton Towers. I’ve used LEGOLAND and Disneyland fast track is it similar? The website suggests you buy the pass for the day and then get time slots for the rides on your fast pass - but how do you do that?

The reason I ask is that we are two families with kids visiting and we’re considering the fast passes so the adults can jump on a few rollercoasters without spending hours queueing and leaving the other adults with the kids for ages. If we can share two fast passes between us somehow then we’d plump for a better level of pass and just take turns on some of the rides on the pass.

The only option that offers unlimited use is the Platimum, the other three are once-per-ride only. There are no time slots I think, you can do the included rides in any order. Bear in mind that it's 1 pass per person as well, so can be expensive.

Thanks for the reply. I think I may have phrased it wrong. We’re not interested in all of us riding all of the rides on a fast pass. If we purchased Bronze for instance then one of us would ride nemesis, one ride oblivion etc.
So you purchase a fast track pass and then just send join the fast track queue for whatever ride is on your pass and then that gets ticked off?

i guess my question is actually what’s stopping me purchasing a fast track on my ticket and then letting a friend head up the fast track queue and using it?

we don’t want to all ride everything, we just want a break from our offspring!

Yeah you'd be able to give your fast track ticket to a friend if they want to ride a ride that you don't. Just remember that once it's been used on a ride it can't be use on that same one again, unless you get the Platinum.

That great thanks. I guess we will be able to do as planned and swap it round.
I take it you just show your park ticket so it’s a case of swapping them round for whoever is using the fast track queue

No, you'll get a seperate fast track ticket. I asume each ride will be ticked off by the hosts as you go.
Happy to help. :)

I believe most of it is digital now, you can buy it on the app or online before you visit, so you show it on your phone and they would scan the barcode. Of course I’m sure you could just send the ticket to anyone you want, as they’ll only scan once on each ride they are valid for anyway. However I think if available on the day then you would be able to get a ticket from the box office for fastrack, which works the same as digital where they just scan the barcode at the fastrack queue.

Yikes... If you are correct then I gave a fair amount of false information on Facebook last night, I wasn't aware that they had gone digital fastrack.

If i buy fast track tickets, say the silver for example am i only allowed to go on the rides covered by the fast trsck
or can i go in the normal queue for rides not on the pass

You can indeed ride other attractions via the main queue, including the ones on the FT pass if you want to ride them more than once. 🙂

Looking at the prices of them, I wouldn't bother. Unlike the other parks in the Merlin portfolio, there is a route around Towers that you can take for reasonable queues. If you're really strapped for time then you can always use a single shot but the prices just aren't worth it for the packages when you consider most of the rides on the cheaper ones will have a 10 mins or less queue at some point during the day.

The route depends on how busy the park is (The Dark Forest first route for instance during the summer holidays) but no matter how busy the park is there's 2 constants. Smiler has a Single Rider and Nemesis and Galactica will always be dead for the last hour of the day.

You can purchase individual at the ticket office, you show the gatekeeper your ticket and they allow to pass through the fast track section.
