That's true I suppose. Get them all out the way early so to speak.

One of the my bug bears about parks these days though. A hundred people literally filming themselves do the same thing over and over and over.

This simply isn’t comparable, though; for starters, Alton Towers isn’t Universal, and doesn’t have anywhere near the same budget available to them, and this is a family investment, whereas VelociCoaster is more aimed at thrill seekers.

All things considered, I’m personally applauding Towers for what they’ve done here; it looks like they’ve really breathed some new life into that bit of the park, and I’m impressed with all the little details!

I wish they could bottle your positivity and provide it on the NHS.

It certainly seems to be an adequate ride. Based on a 2 minute dispatch and actually filling each car (not going to happen) it will be lucky to get 250 people per hour so there are going to be a lot of disappointed families when you consider that on a 10-5 day that’s less than 2000 guests the entire operating day.
 
Wait, is the dispatch time genuinely TWO MINUTES?

If it is, then at one group per ride car and with them running at 50% RAP that'd be an average of something like 45-60 people per hour from the main queue.

You are probably my favourite poster on here. Please don't take this as an insult because, me being one of the more miserable people around, you have just brightened up my day with this. I wish I could take you and your accompanying optimism to work with me to brighten my day some days when the chips are down.

On your last point, although I wouldn't have condoned a Sizzler a few years ago, we are where we are and I quite enjoy one. As a support attraction only and with theming, I'd quite like a permanent one.

I mean in fairness, Flavio's is definitely the temp ride which fits in the most - I'd have said Mixtape was before, but it genuinely looks alright in TWoDW.

That’s a guess from me based on a 5 min ride cycle (the POV is pretty much dead on 5 min 20 sec) and 4 cars (1 off load, 1 on load, 2 circulating) if it has 5 cars then maybe it’s a quicker dispatch.

That said on 5 cars you are still looking at a dispatch every 90 seconds at best. With every car filling 8 seats that’s 320 per hour.

Ah right, as far as I'm aware it has 7 cars in total, though it's possible they're not all in use. That should make it slightly better, maybe even a main queue throughput in three figures (!)

The very best you could do is 60 second dispatch as the 1st scene is about a minute long based on the POV which filling all seats gets you 480 per hour.

So with Covid restrictions I bet it won’t be getting above 240
 
It’s effectively a similar throughput to Postman Pat, and at full tilt (all cars fully loaded) would get about 40% the throughput of Hex.

Even without Covid restrictions I would hazard most cars would not exceed much more than 6 guests.

How on earth did you get that from what I said? No offence but you're just looking for an angle that isn't there.

Nothing wrong with people riding it. I'm sure I will at some point. How is that remotely the same as seeing a load of grown ups all waiting with cameras on opening day for what is essentially a children's attraction? That was the bit that was cringey.

But why is grown ups waiting with cameras any different to grown ups waiting without cameras?

Burbs and some of the TowersStreet team were on park yesterday too, should they have not ridden the ride?

I really don't see why you think adults riding a ride on a weekday when the children would be at school anyway is "cringey", why can't everyone ride whatever they want to.

Your comment is not only ageist and discriminatory towards childless adults, but like @jon81uk say's the TowerStreet team were there yesterday with their cameras, I personally wouldn't insult the mods on here

It's a family all-ages attraction, why shouldn't everyone ride?

If there was a large group of adults on a ride clearly not suitable for their body size (like the Num-tums-go-round) then it would look a bit weird. But for an all ages dark ride I really don't see why people have a problem with others doing what they want to.

I don't have a problem with adults going on it, but when most the crowd is adults of course it's cringey.

Maybe it's because fans are scraping the barrel for something to do, or really some people should just get a grip that you can still enjoy Alton Towers without having to rush to show your face at every single thing.

Im sure Ill go on it too out of interest of a new ride, it looks fun.

It's not an all ages attraction in the same sense that the books are not all ages books. Hey much better to accept it and do what makes you happy than tell other people they’re being discriminating
