The Castle Dungeon

So I booked for Warwick Castle, transport and accommodation with the main reason to do The Castle Dungeon. I'm going up alone and tried to book it online. But the 1 person slot wasn't visible to select and only went from 2 people up to six. So I thought it was an error and messaged them. Today they have messaged me back...

Due to the Castle Dungeons having a capacity of 6 people per show - we can only allow a maximum of 3 separate groups together. Unfortunately, due to this reason you cannot book a single ticket by itself.

They didn't state this anywhere on their website for people like me whos main reason for going is for the Dungeons. Anyway its too late now to get reimbursed for anything so I'm gonna have to just go! I was thinking about booking for 2 people and just go in by myself or to be placed with another group. But if they stop me then I've wasted even more money.

Is anyone going to Warwick on Wednesday? If you are I'd be happy to pay for you to come in with me to experience The Dungeon.

Have you done any of the other Dungeons such as London? If you have then you aren’t missing anything at Warwick Castle Dungeon. From memory 80% of the scenes are repeats of the other Dungeons. Torturer, Doctor, Judge and a mirror maze.

Yeah I've done London, York and Blackpool Dungeons. Apparently Warwick Castles version is 'darker' and contains a witch scene that's supposed to be the scariest out of all the Dungeon attractions?

Its been years since I visited but
from memory the witch scene is similar to the Sweeny Todd and the Fire of London scene I think (although I haven't done London either since the move!).

I thought the witch scene was seated, in darkness, with loud noises/effects/actors touching you

I remember something touching me, but thought it was automated leg/neck ticklers a bit like Sweeney Todd? Was there also a disappearance like in the fire scene in London?

...which (pun not intended) is currently running in a covid-secure fashion and therefore nowhere near as effective as it normally is. I'd imagine the one at Warwick will be the same

The Witches of Warwick scene is impressive, as is the Molly Leigh scene at Alton Towers.

But neither are at their best currently due to Covid protocols.

Can someone put in a spoiler tag what the difference is with the scene during Covid? As I've only done it pre pandemic.

What is the point of a scare maze during social distancing lmao

A Dungeon attraction is not a scare maze. Either way, ATR operated Scarefest last year and the mazes operated, too.

The Castle Dungeon is unique because of its setting and its utilisation of the castle building. Yes, the scenes aren't original but it compares strongly against York, Blackpool and also Alton (boat ride aside).
