General Queue Times Discussion

It was advertised 90 whilst we were back in the area but the extension was empty as was the bit directly underneath the marmaliser after the steps from the entrance couldn’t see any further than that but fast track but be making it hell on earth then. The ride did actually go down shortly after this and was down for the length of time it took me to ride Oblivion and Mixtape. And yes with Battle Galleons we usually get drenched but are fine- it was a different level today that we literally had to use the dryers. I can usually deal with the drenching but it was something else today, like genuinely I’ve never experience it as wet as that!

@Danscott22 and @Matt.GC how have the queues been today in terms of accuracy. Have the advertised waits been fairly accurate
My findings are similar to @Danscott22. Most rides today were within 5 - 10 mins of their app times. Usually 5 - 10 mins worse. Only standouts were Wickerman saying 65 when we waited 90 (but they had technical issues), GG saying 60 waited 80, Nemesis saying 10 mins but being over 30 mins, Nemesis again saying 15 but being walk on. Nemesis accuracy issues were down to Galactica and Funk down time, GG was temp downtime, Wickerman sent test trains round 3 times when we were in the queue. So overall I can't blame the park for that.

I agree that today was in fact surprisingly busy. But by that I mean in terms of crowds rather than the queues. The queue lengths were as expected, but the park actually felt busier in general than the queue times would suggest. The lawns for instance were busy and there were large crowds around the stationary floats.

I must agree with @AstroDan though that this made the park feel lively rather than "hell". To give them credit, at no point did the park feel too congested, pathways were as clear as should be expected. Queues felt reasonable for the level of crowds. The lawns layout and stationery floats felt well placed. The crowds felt appropriate for the opening hours and were managed well and there was almost 10 hours of ride time today.

I'd be the first person to kick Towers when they get it wrong, as anyone who reads my regular posts would know. But I don't think they did on the whole get it wrong today. It was neither a 10 - 4 back to back ride whore-a-thon and sod all else day, or 10 - 5 take their money and pile 'em high day. There's clearly a lot of thought that has gone in to ride ops, crowd management and Mardi Gras and it really shows.

I've had the best day at Towers I've had in years, even though I've ridden less rides. Dare I say it, it reminded me of my last summer's trip to Europa! After the past few pretty measly seasons the park had so much energy, life and atmosphere to it. People were chilling out, spending money and having fun. The staff were great (I had a chat with a few of them), they were great with my kids, there was hilarious and quality entertainment everywhere and everything seemed so much more energised and lively than I've become accustomed to.

Sure I could regurgitate the usual criticisms about the state of KC, theming maintenance in general, Walliams World/Dungeons, weeds, dodgy paint jobs (and extremely dodgy wallpapering job in the GG queue line!), the fact that today was rediculously planned to be a 4pm close until the 11th hour etc etc. But for the first time in many years, there was a spark that's been missing for quite a while that seemed like it had returned today. Despite the scars of the last decade + still being present, it felt more like the AT I knew of old. This is what theme parking should really be about. I'm too much of a pessimist to think change will occur and that they'll build on this, but then if you'd told me they were going to add 4 new flats, hold 3 main events and operate 10 hour days pre Scarefest this time last year I would've called you crazy.

Back on the 24th June which is still advertised as 10-4 but I’m now confident it won’t be. Yesterday just showed what a great day it can be with good hours and a good atmosphere. Worth pointing out we did stop when we saw the Mardi Gras performers roaming the park and went to buy food from the stalls at 7:40pm so it was a long but good day! Referring to my list of wait times in an above post- had it stayed 10-4, Hex would have been our last ride.

Mixtape is so so good I wish they’d get a permanent smashing jump! Tired though!
Glad I'm not the only one who thinks they should get a pernament Smashing Jump! Rode it last Sunday and it was awesome. :D

I'm still a bit achy atm from my visit. Will probably be worse again on Thursday though as I'm off to a fun fair. :p

Yeah they sent a push notification asking for feedback on Mixtape and I actually gave it a 10 and said I'd recommend it to others. Obviously not with the fairground style, but they could easily do some sort of Smiler theme on it and I hope they do it was a very very fun one! Heard about it being on a short cycle but we had 5 sets of bouncing-spinning-bouncing so I didn't think so!

Unfortunately I didn't have my phone on me when in the queue so didn't get the notification. :(
Was really suprised how fast it was running as well! :D
Although during the cycle I did wonder if it was having a technical issue, as it kept stopping with us in the air and the neumatic rams sounded like they were struggling.

I think all the Merlin park apps have, or they've deliberately decided to change it to where you can only see times when on park.
