Re: Europa-Park: Trip Planning, Questions and Advice!

I dont think it does but to be honest ERT is only 30 min long and thats the only perk. During our trip last week i bothered with ERT once as really you will get everything you want to do many times without it.

Hotel El Andaluz

el_andaluz02.jpg

This is the oldest of Europa-Park's 5 resort hotels.

The hotel is themed to a Spanish Villa, and rooms are generally arranged around a large quadrangle, which has a beautiful garden and pool area. At night, the garden is lit with burning torches, and in the summer months, there are often musical performances. The central lobby is wide and open, with a fountain in the middle. El Andaluz links to Castillo Alcazar and Santa Isabel without going outside, and is the only hotel to have its own entrance into the theme park, directly from the garden into the parks Spanish area.

Although you are able to use the facilities of any hotel when staying on resort at Europa-Park, El Andaluz is home to a bar and restaurant. El Circo, the bar, is usually open until around 1:00am. It is a cosy place, with lots of soft red sofa's and artwork adording the walls. In winter, it's very warming - although in summer, it can get a little warm and cramped. As with all bars, the drinks are excellent - although some can be expensive.

The restaurant, Don Quijote, is an a-la-carte restaurant serving a range of Spanish cuisine. The Paella is excellent, but there is a wide range of dishes to suit all tastes. It is nicely themed, and musical acts often visit in the evening.

Hotel Castillo Alcazar

el-andaluz-castillo-alcazar.jpg

Alcazar, the castle fortress which rises high over Atlantica Super Splash, is the second oldest resort hotel at Europa-Park, and opened in 1999.

Rather than being an entirely stand-alone hotel, it actually feels more like an extension to the original hotel, El Andaluz. Indeed, the reception for Castillo Alcazar is in the same location as for El Andaluz. That said, the theming and rooms are extremely different from those next door. Themed to a Spanish Castle retreat, the hotel has 112 rooms and 8 suites.

Since the hotel does not have its own reception or main entrance area, there is no open space within Alcazar. That, however - suits the theme. Narrow corridors, stone floors and knights in armour are found everywhere - and the restaurant is one of the best themed in the entire resort. Designed to complement the restaurant in El Andaluz, which is a-la-carte, the Restaurant Castillo is a buffet affair - all you can eat. The restaurant is designed to make you feel that you are enjoying a mediavel banquet.

Since the hotel is 10 stories high, you may wish to spend a little extra to guarantee a park view room. With views stretching over the whole park - at night this is truly spectacular. Europa-Park is always lit beautifully, and there are incredible panoramas over Atlantica Super Splash, Wodan, Blue Fire, Euro Mir, Euro Tower and Silver Star. If you aren't lucky enough to have a park view, then other rooms may have a view over one of the other resort hotels - which also look fantastic at night.

On the top floor can be found the cosy and intimate bar, Buena Vista Club. It is one of the most beautiful bars at Europa-Park, and is made up of 6 or 7 small rooms. Drinks are fantastic, and there are outdoor balconies for use in summer. During the evening, there are often musical acts performing which adds to the atmosphere.

There is a swimming pool and water playground for use by guests - located towards hotel Santa Isabel, although you are able to use the facilities in any of the hotels as you wish.

Re: Europa-Park: Trip Planning, Questions and Advice!

Also just to add that the Buena Vista Club normally opens at 8pm, so don't do what I did and run up all those stairs without first checking the time. It's a beautiful and slightly secluded feeling place which seems quite bizarre as it overlooks the whole resort. Just don't be afraid to open the door as it seems to remain shut even when open.

Does anyone have any experience with the shuttle bus going from Basel airport to the train station?

For EP, you'd need to take the number 50 bus into Basel City Centre and then transfer via tram to Basel Bad Bahnhof. From there, there are trains to Ringsheim - the official station for EP. At Ringsheim, there are frequent buses to the resort.

You may find it easier, although more expensive, to book a direct shuttle bus/taxi service from Basel to Europa-Park. It would take 1 hour, rather than around 2 1/2 hours using the alternative.

:)

Re: Europa-Park: Trip Planning, Questions and Advice!

Yeah if there were 4 of us we would get a taxi just for the ease more the timings. We get there pretty early in the morning so we are not in a rush. I seem to remember being able to buy evening tickets last time I went. Is this only during peak?

You can get half day park tickets, although for the last 10 days of the season, evening tickets from 4pm are also available.

Usually, if you're staying on resort - there are more offers for tickets.

:)

And for god sake book it from the correct airport, there is Baden and Basel nearby. I got burnt with this (which effected a few on here).

Re: Europa-Park: Trip Planning, Questions and Advice!

Does anyone have any opinions or experiences with the off-park accommodation? I'm thinking of booking Elzpark(sp?) but if anyone has any more recommendations that'd be good too!

Also, stupid question, but am I right in presuming that there is some sort of supermarket in Rust? Just if I was to book an apartment we'd need to get food from somewhere, and we wouldn't have a car. Are there any good restaurants in the town, and/or could we use the hotels in the park if we didn't fancy cooking? Do you have to book or can you just show up?

Re: Europa-Park: Trip Planning, Questions and Advice!

Elzpark, along with most accommodation in Rust is good.

Main park entrance is 5 minute walk.

There is a small supermarket, banks, chemists, bakery, pizzeria, pub in the village within 5 minute walk.

You can use hotel bars and restaurants, which are a 15 minute walk down a straight road.

Re: Europa-Park: Trip Planning, Questions and Advice!

We are looking at visiting next year. I have had a look today and there is a 20% off offer for dates we are off in September. :)

Might finally get a chance to visit Europa park

Re: Europa-Park: Trip Planning, Questions and Advice!

Hello I have some questions about the shuttle bus and hotels.

Alright so I'm visiting Europa-Park next year (Aug 6) and am taking the shuttle bus from EuroAiport. The thing is though what is the earliest time the bus leaves and what are the frequency of the buses? Do the buses also go back to EuroAirport if so, what is the latest time the buses leave? I've also checked the shuttle buses website and it says is €99 for 1-4 people, does it actually mean €99 per person or €99 for all four people? I know that is a stupid question but I'm quite confused by it.

Now onto the hotels, how far are hotels are from the park? And when looking the prices I saw that for a 4 - bed room with 2x B&B and 3 day admission at Colosseo but as I am staying until the 11th is it possible to have a 3x B&B and 3 day admission? And are the prices pp or for all four people?

Oh and if possible can someone give me a rough estimate of the percentage of staff who can speak English decently and how much spending money should I have for a group of four to share?

Re: Europa-Park: Trip Planning, Questions and Advice!

1. Shuttle Buses from EuroAirport are private hire. So, you must contact them with your details and the time you wish to be collected, along with your flight and flight number.

2. Resort Hotels are next to the theme park, and have their own Monorail Station and their own park entrance. If you stay for 3 nights, you can get 3-day park tickets. The best idea would be to book your accommodation on the EP website, and sort out the tickets you want on check in.

3. Many staff speak English. All staff have flags on their name badge indicating languages spoken.

4. I work on €50 (£42.00) per person per day, spending money. If you want to indulge in a meal at one of the hotel restaurants, then I would consider than an extra.

Re: Europa-Park: Trip Planning, Questions and Advice!

Ryanair will begin a new service on three days a week between London Stansted and Strasbourg, from April 2013. Strasbourg is the closest major airport to Europa-Park. From Strasbourg, connection to EP is cheap and easy.

With the addition of the Easyjet route from Manchester to Basel, access by flight to Europa-Park from the UK is becoming easier than ever before.

Full UK Flight Listings for Europa-Park:

National Carriers:
Heathrow - Basel (BA)
London City - Basel (Swiss)

Ryanair:

London Stansted - Karlsruhe Baden Baden

Easyjet:
London Gatwick - Basel

Re: Europa-Park: Trip Planning, Questions and Advice!

I will just put a post up here. I am looking at booking during an early bird special offer and part of the T&Cs for the special rate is that you pay for it upfront.

I have just booked EP for September :D

Fantastic news. It's a very quiet time of the year, although depending on which part of the month, you may still get the hangovers from some of the summer entertainment, and Oktoberfest event starts at some stage, too.

If you need any more advice, let me know.

Re: Europa-Park: Trip Planning, Questions and Advice!

We have booked an economy room at Bell rock. I think its the same as a standard room just with a rubbish view.

We are going from the 16th Sept to the 19th. Got 2 day tickets with it so I think we are going to have a look around the hotels and stuff on the first day. Not sure on the last day before we fly probably more relaxing.
