[2024] Voltron Nevera | Mack Stryker Coaster

The park presented some details of the new coaster project at a local planning meeting today as they move forward with securing planning permission.

- It will be an advanced/further developed version of Mack Rides' BigDipper model
- Won't be taller than Blue Fire's 38m
- 80km/h max speed
- LSM launched
- Built facing away from the village
- Capacity will be on par with Silver Star's (1750pph)

The local council gave the draft plan their blessing. Now visual, noise and environmental studies will be conducted before it can be officially approved. The opposition group to the park have already criticised it. Concerns were also raised about a 12m sound barrier wall planned.

The park also applied to expand their horticulture/plants nursery facility (opposite side of the street from the park) and create new depots for the park emergency services beside it on an extension of 2.82 ha. By bundling these facilities together outside of the park more space should be freed up inside for other future developments. These plans were approved today already.

Roland also stated in this interview despite not yet having the planning permission they still hope for a 2023 opening.
Mention was also made of the planned Adventure Land renovation - it will come but is a challenging project given the middle of the park location. Would take 3 months to complete.

I'm quite surprised they're not going for an extreme spinner. Will be interesting to see how they further develop the Big Dipper model, however.

I imagine being directly beside EuroMir (which should get its Sat treatment following the new attraction's opening) the spinning USP is somewhat weakened and would confuse some guests.

Maybe they’re going for a BigDipper model with longer trains as opposed to just the 2-row cars that Lost Gravity/Dynamite have? Sort of like the advancement from the Gerstlauer Euro-Fighter to the Gerstlauer Infinity Coaster?

In terms of capacity; I’d assume that the 1,750pph figure is a combined figure if these are duelling coasters, meaning a capacity of around 875pph per side. Actually, with that capacity per side, it could well be a more traditional BigDipper, and the dueling aspect was built in as a means of increasing capacity…

All sounds very interesting. I wonder if you could have a BigDipper with longer trains, meaning a standard car followed by a spinning car and so on? Possibily unlikely!

It would be good if the Adventure Land renovation could happen for 2022, it is long overdue and they spoke to us about it way back in 2015/16 I think it was.

The capacity is what intrigues me so much. Assuming that they aren’t going to make the trains significantly longer, since that would remove the entire USP of being a Big Dipper, they’re going to have to do something else radical to achieve a similar capacity to Silver Star. I really can’t think of that being anything other than having two tracks.

If it is going to be a duelling Big Dipper, that does sound like a really exciting possibility given their agility. West Coast Racers on steroids perhaps?

So the area being developed for the coaster is some what surprising...
Goodbye random satellite dish, Traumzeit Dome and old access road/current backstage road.

The "Storettenstrasse II" development plan.

The 1st amendment comprises a sub-area of the legally binding development plan in the area east of Europa-Park-Strasse and north of the access to the administration at the level of the Europa Park roundabout. The drawing. Part is changed by a cover sheet and the building regulations are adapted accordingly. The change area is shown in the legally binding development plan as a special area with the purpose of "leisure park".

In the legally effective FNP of the Ettenheim administrative association, the change area is designated as a special "leisure park" area. The change in the B plan is considered to have been developed from the FNP.

The planned roller coaster is a further developed version of the "Big Dipper" product from Mack Rides. The trains are accelerated to approx. 80 km / h by means of magnetic acceleration tracks and pass through various elements which, however, do not tower above the Blue Fire roller coaster. At the top, capacities similar to the Silver Star roller coaster are expected. The route will be built between the warehouse and the administration complex within the existing park area. No additional areas are planned for the planning.
Reference is made to the notice on the town hall board between July 16, 2021 and July 22, 2021 inclusive.

Squeezed in-between the administration offices and workshops on one side and the 2 large storage warehouses (one only newly built as seen by the foundations in the google maps image). Whether this is just the coaster or the themed area too is unclear. Certainly it had been expected that the Traumatica site would be home to this development. Perhaps the area's buildings sit there then? Or that space is being kept for phase 2?

It’s a bit unusual for EP to actually remove attractions, but I guess the Dreamdome was only supposed to be temporary in any case and whilst the satellite is a unique folly, I can’t say I’ll miss it that much. It does seem a little odd though.

I think when the dome was installed it was expected to only be there until this new area materialised. The dome has lasted longer than I expected!

Interesting site for the coaster, and I am surprised that the satellite is going to be making way. We'll have to wait and see if the site outlined is just for the coaster or if it is for the entire themed area.

Yes, perhaps they're going for a more tightly-wound Klugheim-esque experience with this development, with two (?) coasters duelling above the area. I imagine EP are really just trying to save as much space as possible at this stage, and are needing to get creative.

The satellite is easily one of their most pointless theming endeavours, and as such, I will be both heartbroken and nonplussed to see it leave for a big new coaster.

EP are definitely going to be more thoughtful of space now. The area behind Greece remains primed for development but using nooks and crannies in advance of that makes good sense.

Intriguing.
