Thorpe Park: General Discussion

Is the park as quiet as the app appears to make out? Longest queue is 20mins on a summer Sunday? Seems very quiet compared to Alton Towers.

yep it's pretty quiet, only seems to be Black Mirror and DBGT that's being mismanaged into long queues

Waiting for Saw at Thorpe. Needs four riders to send. The ride is cleared. Nobody in sight. Park dead all day.

Mad.

Perhaps as last night was the first Saturday that nightclubs have been open for over a year means a big slice of the target market have spent today nursing a hangover from hell and so very few people would have booked to visit today?

Dunno.

Have you seen the weather today?

Have you seen the weather today?

Yes, been 20 degrees and dry here.

I imagine Surrey is somewhat different? Even so the requirement to book in advance significantly reduces the fluctuations that bad weather causes to guest numbers. If you have already booked and paid you are much less likely to not show up if the weather is bad.

It’s been torrential rain and flooding in London & Essex so I assume Surrey was similar.

In terms of the bookings I guess it also depends if paid ticket or passholders. Passholders could not go and book for later in the season, but yes day ticket holders would lose money if they don’t go (although there is the rainy day guarantee thing).

The weather was not that bad.

It rained heavily between 5 and half past 6 but was otherwise cloudy with sunny intervals and light showers.

Less than a hundred on park by the end. The reride policy came in handy!

If you think about it, you can technically make anything work 9 times a day if you want it to!

If it were me, I’ll admit that BML isn’t what I’d be choosing to experience 9 times a day; that would be The Swarm for me, if I had the chance, but each to their own, I guess!
Unless your Autistic probably not.
What difference does being autistic make, out of interest?

I’m autistic, and probably wouldn’t choose to do BML 9 times in a day, personally.

The sensory environment is just bliss! It's kinda a spin as well the routine thing.

You've never had nine rides in a day at Thorpe ! :p
Technically speaking, my max ride count at Thorpe was actually 12 on an unexpectedly deserted 8pm close day in August 2019, but you raise a good point…

My highest ride count on any individual ride at Thorpe in 1 day was 4 rides on Swarm on the aforementioned August day; I’d certainly love to get 9 rides in on it in a day, though!

Man, I’d forgotten how much of an amazing day we had on that 8pm close day… from memory, I think I got 4 rides on Swarm, 2 on Inferno, 1 on Stealth, 1 on Colossus, 1 on Saw, 1 on Rumba Rapids, 1 on Detonator and 1 on Rush! We were actually really lucky to get to Thorpe when we did, because the 8pm closes were so deserted that they got scrapped about a week or so after our visit!

Just for reference, yesterday was a 7pm close

Saw x9
Stealth x8
Swarm x4
Inferno x4
Walking Dead x4
Detonator x3
Derren Brown
Black Mirror
Rumba Rapids
Rocky Express

= 36

No rush and sat in Infinity Bar for at least an hour eating lunch as well as watching some of the Parkvibes entertainment.

Wow, that’s one heck of a ride count!

Also, are you a Saw fan @D4n? I can’t imagine the headache I’d have after 9 Saw rides in 1 day, personally…

I’m also going to guess that like me, you’re not a Colossus fan at all, given that you had no Colossus rides, but had a minimum of 4 on all the other coasters…

I’ll admit I’m still mystified as to how people get such high ride counts. Admittedly, on the 8pm close at Thorpe, we arrived late in the afternoon and left at about 5:30pm, but I wouldn’t think that a couple of hours would make much difference, surely?

Been a couple of years since I've been to Thorpe, but I can remember on a September weekday doing every coaster plus Rush twice also some of our group did Vortex and we all did Detonator, Dodgems, Rumba Rapids, plus DBGT and Walking Dead.
So at least 20 rides I think and a long lunch break in Infinity. Could easily have done more but too many coasters too quick makes me a bit queasy.
We arrived for 10am but probably left about 4ish. I guess closing time was 5pm.
