ridecount - Into The Future!

Legendia was a big miss when I went a few years back. Got 30 something rides on Lech but wasn't able to record it. Forgotten now.

Don't know if it has been added since though!

Don't know if its just me being an incredibly sad person, but can we have a placeholder park? For when you go to a fair and want an accurate RC on the site but obviously adding fairs would be insane apart from your big permanent WW Style ones. If you peer at mine I use Knightmare as it has 0 chance of reopening along with Camelot having a pretty much 0 chance of reopening.

Yes we did a bit of digging and thought we had pinpointed the issue. Is it still occurring though?

Went to Pleasureland Southport today - noticed it isn't on there - would be a nice one to add :)

The latest parks to be added are...

UK

Southport Pleasureland (@D4n)

Belgium
Bellewaerde

USA
Gilroy Gardens Family Theme Park
Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk
SeaWorld San Antonio
Six Flags Fiesta Texas
Six Flags Over Texas

As for your suggestions, keep 'em coming! :)

Lots of new parks added the last couple of months. Lost track of which ones exactly but there's quite a variety. You can keep track of the latest 6 parks that have been added at the bottom of this page: https://ridecount.com/explore/parks

As always, let us know via the usual channels if there's any parks you'd like to see!

Hey all!

Thought I'd drop an update of some of the latest changes here as there has been a few updates, and I'd love to hear what else you'd like to see too.

Recent changes include:

  • The addition of overall Attraction statistics - https://ridecount.com/explore/attractions
  • Trip filters on both your personal trips page and the explore trip pages
  • Tweaks to the design of the site including some updates to the Dashboard, removal of the duplicate profile page, and homepage tweaks
  • Some bug fixes including the total ride counts displayed on the park pages being slightly inaccurate, number formatting being inconsistent, and a few other silly bugs
  • Implementing a new help desk to allow multiple people to respond and cleanup of all the previous old FAQs that were no longer relevant
  • A mass clear out of inactive accounts freeing up lots of usernames - this was phase 1 of removing anyone that had an invalid email address, and phase 2 is coming shortly with anyone who hasn't logged in for a long period of time
  • A bunch of backend tweaks and tools to allow team members to better manage the site

We've got a few things planned for the near future, including adding missing parks through the site (rather than currently here or via the help desk), and we're also developing a 'cred count' mode which allows you to just check off attractions as they are completed rather than counting how many times you have rode them, as it seems a number of people just want this option and currently abuse trips to do so! :p

Work continues on building up stats too with hopefully more exciting stats coming soon!

If you do have any ideas for features you'd like to see, let us know here in this thread, or at the help desk https://help.ridecount.com and we'll add them to our idea list.

Thanks! :D

Would Cred Count be alongside your ridecount or would you have to have it seperately setup?

That's a good question, and one I'm still trying to answer myself, I've had a few developer and architect friends talking about possibilities of how to do it, as its currently a rather annoying problem with those wanting to count credits creating trips to log 1x on each ride, and skewing up trip/visit stats etc.

The likelihood of how it may work at the moment is:

If you track trips and rides (aka 'ride count' mode), you'll automatically get credit count stats/data, as it can be calculated from your trips without any further information.

If you select to use 'credit count' mode (presumably - at the moment - through either an option when you first sign up, or later an option in your profile to switch), then all of the trip stuff will be disabled for your profile, and you'll only be able to tick off attractions as credits rather than create trips etc. We are looking at the ability to be able to specify when you 'gained the credit' as it were though too, or just leave the date blank.

I'm still trying to thrash out exactly how it might work as there is a lot to think about - for example there will need to be different dashboards and profile pages for ride vs credit counters too as the data will be missing for credit counters.

Thanks!

Thanks Joel for all the improvements. Good to still see the site being actively worked on. Can't believe I've been logging my trips on there for over 10 years!
It would be nice if a credit count could be used alongside a regular account as I know the rides I rode pre-2010 but couldn't even guess when or how many times. But I wouldn't want to lose the existing count either.

Ocean Beach in South Shields would be a nice addition from a selfish point of view.

Any chance Legoland Korea can be added? Or do I need to wait until it's properly open?
Got 2 credits on the Observation Tower and one on The Dragon I need to add.
I can help with the ride list if it's not been posted yet.

If I've got enough usable photos I'll try and put a trip report together as well.

I see they've posted a rides list so yes I'm happy to add it. Shall let you know once it's done!
