The I Feel Down Topic.

The thing with viruses is they are known to mutate, they were saying last year that it will mutate and it isn't something that will just go unfortunately. But it can take 2 routes. it can become more aggressive and more transmissible like the delta variant. Or it can become less aggressive and stick around for longer.

the main thing isn't to stop the spread, but to reduce hospital admissions and deaths. It would be wrong to think we can clear covid but more adapt to life with it, like we do the flu or a cold. There will be boosters around winter time for the older generations and vulnerable ones. Then we can also look at the global vaccination front.

We are winning the fight, it may not feel like it at times and everyone has had waining points of doubt and stress but as 'Our vera' said. We will meet again

If anyone's feeling worried about anything, give this wonderful original song a listen. It's about conquering and overcoming fear. I've been listening to it loads lately. :)

That's a lovely song @Skyscraper - sometimes we all need something to give us a lift!

This is my go-to ballad; it's a pretty old song now from an album I bought as a teenager but it still really helps me when I'm not in a good place.

My wife has just found out she has breast cancer.

Sorry to hear this sad news @delta79

I understand all your attention and headspace must be for your wife right now which must be awful to have to deal with. Macmillan have a cancer support line which is also for loved ones of those diagnosed. May be worth giving them a ring just to help with any worries you don’t what to disclose and just to have someone in the end of the phone who understands.

I've haven't used this thread before and to be honest I wasn't sure about posting my relatively trivial issues but I just wanted somewhere to rant as I think I have frustrated my family enough today.

About three months ago I went to my regular orthodontist opporintmet (I have braces and you go about every three months to get them tightened/adjusted; I have had them on for way longer than originally predicted and have been passed around all the orthodontist) they informed me that my braces could be removed (finally) in three months (today). So obviously I was excited and pleased to be able to eat all the things I've missed and really enjoy eating again, instead of it being a hassle. I went today and waiting way longer than my appointment time due to them being short a person (understandable in the current climate and not a massive issue).

After a decent amount of time I was seen; the orthodontist looked at my teeth and was unsure if I was ready to have them removed. I believed I was as my teeth were now completely straight and I had been lead to believe on my last appointment that the last three months was really just a precaution. So the orthodontist got a second opinion who seemed to think my braces needed tightening and leaving on for at least the next three months. In the end the decision was made that they would be tightened and I would have bite stoppers( can't remember the proper name for them) fitted to make sure I could bite together properly. They claimed there was a gap, everyone I have asked cannot see one and I can't feel it so I really wouldn't be annoyed by it is if it there.

Realistically, I could have asked them to remove it but I gave them the benefit of the doubt as I believe they know what they are doing. However this has of course upset and angered me, probably more than it should, and I feel awful. Having your braces tightened makes them uncomfortable and sometimes painful for a few days and makes it incredible hard to eat anything. Of course I'm used to having them tightened and have had it done no end of times but this time it has really upset me as I was lead to believe I would be having them removed.

on top of the whole brace situation I just generally don't feel that well as I have recently re started college and am nervous for how the year is going to go

Sorry for coming on here to rant about something that doesn't really matter and something that realistically is just me being a pain in the arse and having a bad temper.

As long as you got it off your chest and feel a bit better about, then that filled the reason of this thread.

Seems to be one thing after another for me recently!

- Had a wasp infestation in my chimney which cost a bit to sort
- Dog gets unwell and has to goto the vets another ton of cash (she's better now thankfully)

then I woke up yesterday to the fun of my boiler breaking. Called 5 different technicians, 2 didn't answer, 1 said he was coming then didn't turn up and told me at 6pm he wasn't coming and 1 said he could come but has already asked about replacing it, without even looking at it

so now Im gonna have to find £2000 to replace my boiler potentially, on top of that my MOT is next month

Edit: Update - the second technician cancelled so I have a third potentially coming tonight
