Phantasialand: General Discussion

It's not in the online edition yet, but there was frustrating news reported in this morning's Neue Rheinische Zeitung about Wuzeball.

Apparently just before the pandemic the park had Intamin working night-and-day to try and solve the ride's recurring issues once and for all. The paper report that everything had been sorted and the ride was scheduled to soft open on – get this – the very day the German government forced parks to close in March last year.

Now, in a cruel twist of fate, the ride is sitting there all ready to go but it's the one ride in the park the TÜV have flat-out refused to sign-off because they say it can't be operated in a Covid-secure way. :(

So wuzeball is still on site?

This week I had the chance to experience Rookburgh and F.L.Y. for the first time!
I love it! The area looks better in person. There is so much to see. I was able to do two rides (third row and last row). It was my first flying coaster as well so I was double excited. It was smooth, fun and a bit forceful. The airtime after the second launch was unexpected!
But I can't still decide which one is my favourite at the park because I do love Black Mamba as well.
I also enjoyed Taron more than last year, but it's still below FLY and Mamba.
I wish Phantasialand would make more and better merchandise. I mean the mascots got plenty of stuff, but the rides have about two shirt options at best.

Glad to hear you liked it! Hopfeully I'll get to visit Phantasialand one day, but I must admit that I more want to ride Black Mamba than Taron. F.L.Y slots in between them nicely I think. Have you done Talocan? Never done that typed of ride but think I'd give it a go just because of that incredible theming. :p

Each to their own obviously but Black Mamba though very well themed is a bit of a mediocre ride. Starts well but completely ceases to do anything interesting about half way through.

No I haven't done Talocan. I'm scared of these kind of rides. Maybe one day....
Also I haven't done a tone of thrill rides yet. I'm still a beginner...kind of. For example I cannot compare 10 different inverted coasters because I only rode two in my life (Black Mamba and a SLC).

Does Talocan have multiple programs? I feel like I've never had the ride on it that people describe. It's fun, but always felt a bit style of substance, for me.

I found the second half of Black Mamba was just lots of high G-force turns really. It felt intense but boring.

Nemesis at Towers is still the only invert I've ridden, so I'm in the same boat. :)

Im not of the opinion Nemesis is the best invert in the world, but track and train it is more intense and I would say better than Mamba.

Love Talocan, have an unusual soft spot for Wingas, Colorado is brilliant as is Mystery castle. Night hawk can go do one as it’s naff.

Taron I really like though I think it gets a little overrated by some, again it’s a ride that loses its way towards the end but it’s still really really good.

Hi guys,

With F.L.Y now finally complete are there any rumours knocking around with what’s to come next in terms of investment? I understand that Hollywood Tour has now closed, do we think this and Crazy Bats could be removed?

Me and my wife been talking as we wouldn’t mind having a family holiday in Germany as I had my stag do in Munich and enjoyed the city very much. My daughter watched Shawn’s vlogs and wants to visit phantasialand. Is there much to do other than phantasialand In the area as I would fly to Cologne airport and get a coach transfer.

Cologne is a nice city. We visited the cathedral including climbing the steps of the tower, the chocolate museum, did shopping and planned to do an art gallery but it was closed so went to a sculpture park. There is also a zoo and several other galleries.

Cologne is a lovely city, my last trip was not coaster related but a stag-do. Plenty of great restaurants and bars, nice big square in the town centre as well.

Depends how adventurous you are tbh, we done Europa park on the same trip as Phantasialand. Admitted we hired a car but there are quite a few parks in Germany you could access via public transport…
