I'm going tomorrow and it's forecast to be a rainy one. It must be pretty difficult for the park and the guests when the weather turns. From a ride count perspective, rainy days where the coasters stay open can be awesome if you don't get emotional about a bit of rain. Went on a rainy day in April once and it cleared out the coaster queues.

I know it's not Alton Towers, but that reminds me of when I once visited Oakwood. It was a horribly dreary morning; it had been absolutely bucketing down with rain, and the place was a ghost town!

I think my ride count in the couple of hours we spent there was higher than my ride count from many full theme park days, and at one point, me and my mum were the only people even in Speed's area, and we got to ride it alone; that particular element was really quite bizarre... we initially thought the ride was closed, in fact!

So as perverse as it might sound, bad weather can often be a good omen for a theme park day; hope you have a nice day tomorrow @Matt.GC!

Had the whole of the gardens to myself for half an hour yesterday, sat under the shelter of a huge pine in the rain, then soaked my sore feet in the pagoda fountain lake in the sun.
More bits of shelter this year with the tents on the lawns!

Was looking at ticket prices for my partner as we are going up Sat 23rd….

the two Saturdays before are £34
But this one and next is £44

are they ramping up the prices even in advance because it’s the start of half term! Bloody cheek if so

Seems to be showing £39 for Saturdays, £34 for weekdays and then £46 for Scarefest and firework Saturdays now.

Although Kelloggs vouchers work for all dates except fireworks, making it £26.50 per adult ticket.

23rd and 30th will be the 2 busiest Saturdays of the year so I imagine they're taking advantage and charging more due to high demand

I went last Friday, there was surprisingly a few schools there, as well as quite a few people who I assume were uni students. overall quite enjoyed the day and Oktoberfest was in full swing.

Only thing that ruined it was when on The Smiler, managed to get front row (result) and we were sat next to 2 absolute d***s who decided to yell at the staff and to their mates on the rows further back, then drop the C and N bombs the whole way round. then come off and tell the operators they were crap and tried nicking stuff from the shop

There was a group like that today. Meh oh well you get them everywhere

Someone posted in the Alton towers fan group today that the Congo river rapids waterfalls were back on. Said they are doing risk assessments on them and people standing up.
There was a boat in the trough just before the waterfalls and a bloke down there as well. However, the trough was as it has been for ages, all 4 times we saw the rapids they weren't operating and the waterfalls didn't look like they were in use. The masks were still in front of them as well and they looked untouched.

If they want to improve CRR but don't want people to stand up, they'd be better off turning the wave machines back on. People always stand up well in advance of and all the way through the waterfalls but can't really do that for the wave manchines.

I still think they should freeze it and make it into a skeleton/luge/bob track. Don't have waterfalls or standing to worry about then, just the odd crash.

Exactly! get the water guns back as well I say - it used to be a great rapids when the waves were good, the waterfalls were on and other guests were on the water guns.

Plus all the warning signs, concentration camp style watch towers (probably borrowed from the pods as part of their theming package), reminders by staff and tannoy announcements. And still the guests would then have to be stupid enough to not to expect to get wet on a water ride and stand up, the one thing which has probably prevented people from falling in for past 30+ years of incident free operation.

Surely the chances of falling in the trough now are as remote as being abducted by aliens. To fall in now would have to be a freak act of god or intentional.

At Thorpe Park they say remain seated constantly over the tannoy, the say it when you enter the raft and there are dozens of signs on the rafts and along the course saying remain seated but plenty of people still don't listen and I've lost count of how many times I've heard "you there in the tunnel, sit down!"
