Nemesis: Sub-Terra

The actors are recycling lines from the old Oblivion 'operative' character who was featured in The Magic Factory documentary as well as throughout the ride's construction in 1997. This is definitely an 'easter egg', at least of some sort.

It's the Oblivion/Nemesis franchise crossover synergy that dreams are made of!

Same outfits, different actors. Just to nip whether or not they are official or not in the bud.

Apparently the moving parts (seats, drop gondolas, pneumatics, cables, etc.) were removed in 2018/2019, but the physical tower truss that the entire ride is supported on and the car moves up and down on is still in place due to it being large and needing the roof removed to take it out, as well as having a literal ton of bolts holding it down. If that's true, then it's safe to say that the original ride almost certainly won't be coming back.

It has been pretty common in the last few years for Merlin to move rides and parts around their attractions either for re-location (Lumber Jump, Peter Rabbits Hippity Hop etc) or for spares (Ripsaw).

Given that there are various Dungeons attractions that feature the same ride system as NST around the world it is no surprise that they would strip out the useable parts for other locations. If it wasn’t so hard to get the actual ride out, I am sure that would have gone by now as well.

Perhaps this could all signal that that location will be used for something eventually, but I'd pretty much rule out any NST return.
This is my view on the matter. I think something will be put in there and it could potentially be next year (although I think that's unlikely). I think there's pretty much zero chance it will return in its old form as I think the ride system after being SBNO for so long is not going to be fit to return to service easily.

I think (if it happens) it's likely to be some sort of walkthrough a bit like Black Mirror but hopefully without the IP. If done well and themed to the nemesis storyline it could actually be quite good.

I wouldn't say it is that much of a leap. The rumours of the Nemesis Overhaul/re-tracking have been circulating for quite some time now. Nemesis Sub-Terra also being rumoured as returning to fill the gap in rides in that area. It may have even been on the park's mind for a long time, if the smiler accident hadn't happened there would already be another rollercoaster in the area and the Sub-Terra building would have been gone, as it is still there that seems like the obvious choice to replace the missing attraction in the area even if it is just for one season. Sightings of work taking place on Sub-Terra, and nothing happening in there for Scarefest. The fact that the park often use Scarefest to tease things happening the following season, and actors being employed by the park to wander around in outfits worn by Sub-Terra ride staff. As much as I don't like the idea of Nemesis being closed for a full season, what we are seeing, coupled with the rumours we have been hearing all ties together nicely.

I think they have been discussed not rumoured. Lots of people have an opinion on it, but I don't think anyone had any insider knowledge that would lead to an actual rumour of re-opening or retracking, just wishful thinking.

I think it would be overly wishful thinking for the reuse of an old costume during Scarfest as a teaser for anything upcoming, considering that it happens more or less every year in one form or another.

Over the years we've got a really good picture of how Alton Towers go about teasing future developments during Scarefest, and this doesn't fit that bill.

Can I just chip in here with a reminder that this apparently greatly missed attraction left Alton Towers in a blaze of mediocrity, scoring the lowest guest rating of any ride at the resort by the time it was finally put out of its misery.

I actually really liked the attraction (minus the pointless shouting at the start). It had great potential and gave me VIBES of Alien Encounter at WDW which is still one of my all time fav attractions. NST wasn't as good obviously but it definitely had part of its charm.

I doubt it will come back either but I pray to god they try. What a waste it is just sitting there.

Just to clarify, the guy in the Phanalax uniform is definitely a guest, whereas the group in the other costumes (claiming to be part of a new organisation) are definitely actors.
