I know my family trips do not have the longest journey time by far from comments in other posts but, just out of curiosity, it would be interesting to see who those really dedicated Altonites are. Perhaps you could also advise if you stay overnight to split the driving time up.
Don’t be shy if yours, like ours, is not the longest because it would also be fascinating to see the average.

Our journey to the park is 2.5hrs when the M6 is being kind and we don’t stay over.

Our journey time can be 2-3 hours on the way... We always stop off at the Mcdonalds outside Derby for a break and the roads just before that can be horrific at times stretching all the way back up the M1.

If we hammered it we can just scratch the 2 hour mark...

5.5hrs from my house - and that doesn't include breaks. From uni, it's even longer - almost six hours with no breaks.

For me it's about 2 and a half hours by train, and 4 hours on the coach.

3 hour car journey for me - but only when traffic is good on either going the London/M1 route or the Birmingham way route (M40/M42/M6) Otherwise my journey time could vary from 3.5 to 4 hours.

About an hour and a half in the car, and if I'm coming by train touching on two hours as I'll need to get the bus from Uttoxeter station :)

About an hour and a quarter in the car, easily double that by public transport :(

Wow Jonathan thats some journey with no breaks and looks like you are the winner so far.
Eddie, I really feel for visitors who have to rely on public transport. Only did that once years ago when British Rail did an all inclusive ticket from our local station in Essex for a train/bus/entry ticket and we didn't get there until late morning.

It's about half an hour for me depending on traffic through cheadle but on the other hand it's about two and a half hours to thorpe park

I think it's about 2 1/2 hours away for me now, by train and bus (i stress the "think" part). When I lived in north Wales it was an hour and a half tops.

It's not too bad for me travelling by car, generally just over an hour and a half. I usually travel by public transport, which is around two and a half hours in total, so I can't really complain.

Just a scratch under three hours by train, with the journey being halfed by car/coach. The return journey home drags on so much though, it feels like six hours compared to three.

Well my official journey time via car without stopping is 4hours and 43mins. If I was to go via coach (thanks to a handy coach service which goes direct to Alton Towers Resort!) it's a 9 hour journey. Both of which are quite good considering I live in another country! ;)

About 4 hours for me... In the arse end of nowhere which is also known as Norwich...

About 5 1/2 hours for me if the traffic's being kind. The roads getting out of Cornwall take up a good portion of the trip.
At least it's worth it!
