It was a Cafe.

It was closed after the smiler crash, when they basically shut up half the park!

I believe it’s now a store room for RCR.

That was a waste of money adding a photo on ripsaw. Been trying to find if anyone brought a photo as I’m sure it was of everyone on the ride.

I hope they add different rides to all 3 areas again and hopefully in 2023 then out of the 9 flat rides they decide which 3 were the most popular, Easy to maintain and how they can fit into each selected areas.
After 3 seasons travelling back and forth 3 of the retro squad decide they like it at Alton Towers but so they don’t want to be noticed they change colour and add theming to blend into there areas better and have a new name where they can live for many seasons to come.

Honestly I think the retro squad covered a few of the cracks and allowed more variety, but they would be stupid to think people won't notice if they dont replace them next year.

With the London resort looking like it might break ground next year, (lets not get into a discussion on that) they will need to make real changes and real investment in the flats etc if they want to compete.

I think if the retro squad isn't replaced (or at the very least some kept) then they go back to the 2019 issues of people staying away due to there just not being enough filler rides

I have a family member who works for Electrosonic, they are being told they expect to break ground next year. But this is not the thread to talk about it.

Either way, is this where AT is really at though? The merlin crown jewel dangling these rides and saying that was good enough for 2021, but potentially not even replacing or retaining them for another year. I use to think peoples criticism of AT was too much, but they were taking the decals off before the end of the final day for some of them

Some of these are travelling through the winter (Mixtape will be at Winter Wonderland I think) so even if they did return next year, they need all branding off them for the other sites they'll visit.

Plus given how long they've been operating for they will probably need to be inspected thoroughly and such.

Mixtape's site looks horrendous and I'm not really sure what they'll do to hide it next year. As for funk n' fly (ripsaw) site it doesn't look that bad all things considered. I think the ripsaw site could be used for basically anything. I've mentioned it before but I don't know why they don't put a little show there for a few seasons until they eventually bring in a flat ride. I imagine it will be sad so see it empty again next season.

Mixtape's site really just needs a new flat ride on it. Hopefully highly themed and its the space for me in the park that needs filling the quickest. Really any sort of flat ride would be fine but they really just need to put on there either next year or the year after. If this year has proven one thing its that X-sector really needs that second flat to cope with the crowd levels. Particularly as enterprise isn't the most reliable and it is now known for having at least one period of downtime during the season.

If Funk N Fly doesn't return and nothing goes in it's place the that area would be a perfect space for a stage for Mardi Gras - if that returns and they have performance areas dotted around the park again.

And the Mixtape area would work well too.

Very sad to see these pictures. You almost forget even after just a few months of rides returning to those locations after years of the originals missing just how bad the situation is.

I think the Ripsaw site looks the worst. An abandoned food outlet with evidence of Coca Cola signage on it that's been downgraded to a backup area for RCR next to an empty plot with a cheap fence where a theming structure once stood. It'll look worse in 2022 than it did in 2020 now that the theming has been removed. There used to be a large thrill flat here with water fountains and a bridge going over a pathway full of spectators at the border fence and sitting on the rocks opposite watching their friends and family members getting spin round and sprayed in the face.

X Sector too had more of an atmosphere down the bottom end this season gone. The area didn't practically finish for most people at Oivions queue entrance, loads of people around the area sitting on rocks and benches having picnics and watching 2 flats in operation as Oblivion overbanks around it all. I also sat down and had something to eat outside the Waltzers for a good 45 mins at Scarefest whilst my kids went on it as roaming actors entertained the crowds gathered around and the people in the queue line. Sure all this was somewhat ruined by cheesy American rock repeating and garish funfair flats flashing away, but it all made AT feel almost normal again in places.

Now they're all back to bland, lifeless walk by areas.

We may yet see stuff built on at least one of the sites; the RetroSquad didn’t require planning permission in the first place, so who’s to say that new, permanent flats of a similar scale would necessarily require planning permission?
