Some concept art

Why are Pleasure Beach so bad at marketing and promoting their attractions. Both this and the new Valhalla poster show so little information that one would think it was a postcard as opposed to a promotional poster.

I do love Pleasure Beach but it's no wonder their new attractions don't take off with said marketing. You've got the Valhalla poster that gives absolutely no hint at to what the refurb has consisted of and the Icon one just looks like an on ride photo, unless you'd read about the spinning I don't think you'd get that from the image. *rant over*

Having watched the POV from Bluefire with the temporary spinning car.....it's a firm No! from me for this twist to Icon. That looks so intense and nauseating.

Love most types of coasters but that's just not for me. Standard spinning coasters are bad enough for me at times. Maybe it's an age thing.

I’m with you on that. One would need an iron stomach to cope with spinning on Icon. I do not possess said item!

Even if it isn't exclusive to the Speedy Pass it'll almost definitely be an upcharge. They'll need to do that to restrict the queue for it.
It's like the Skycoasters in the US (and Oakwood); they have very low capacity so are always an upcharge.

Really hope the pleasure beach don't make it an up charge.

Would that make it pay per ride?

Now there's an idea

Spinning seats on a coaster at Blackpool?
Almost like they are slowly bringing back the Reel.
I might stop weeping.
Not sure if I'll try it to be honest. As others have said, it could be quite intense and nauseating. Yes it might make the ride experience more exciting for some people, but to me it's just a gimmick.

Will the spinning version of Icon be like Dragon's Fury,at Chessington World Of Adventures?
The impression I get is that this will have less intense spinning than the likes of Dragon’s Fury, Spinball or Storm Chaser; based on footage I’ve seen of Time Traveler and RTH, I’d guess that it will feel more like the car facing odd directions than actually spinning in a really intense fashion.

Although I’ve ridden neither, so I guess that’s not really for me to be the judge of…

I am not sure either of those would be a good reference point given the different technologies employed ?

This is not strictly about 2021. But I am curious about the long since planned and canned bigger one at Blackpool. I believe this was possibly one Geoffrey's last involvements before his death. I wonder if the ride would have been build had he not died.

I believe the council went as far as to place the footers for the planned ride into the promenade, is this correct? As seen in the photo below circled in red.

Now, as far as I am aware, the ride was planned to be something similar to Top Thrill Dragster, which was built after Geoffrey's death. I have measured these footers, and dimension wise they are almost identical to the footer placement and distance relative to each other as the footers are on Top Thrill Dragster, almost a perfect match. In fact, they are slightly further apart, indicating a taller tower than TTD. But the crucial thing is. The dimensional ratio is the same relative to the front and back footers. You can see the footer direction is also perfectly aligned to Watson road, indicating this is the route the ride would have taken, probably over the road. This would have from my understanding however, blocked a lot of existing rides. That said, if there is any park that could have pulled this off while keeping existing rides open, it would be Blackpool.

Just curious as to what happened, as from my eyes these 'footers' are clearly more than a decoration for the promenade, especially as they are an almost perfect match for existing coasters of similar type. I guess cost was a big issue in this, just wondering if anything else was. This would have been a great spectacle. Even so, it is a nice little Easter egg. Even today.

A ride taller than the Big One wouldn't be allowed due to the proximity of Blackpool Airport I'd expect.
