The Sheet Music Thread

Having completed a couple of transcriptions of AT ride themes over the last few months, and doing another as a work in progress, I thought I'd collate them all in this thread for easier reference if anyone wanted to find them all.

I'll categorise them below to make it as clear as possible :) All are for piano, in case that wasn't obvious :p

Hopefully I'll be doing a few more of these in the future!

Thanks,

Alastair.

You are clearly the most talented yet dedicated TTF'er. Was it hard for you to learn these? When did you start learning piano? What are your future projects?

I haven't learnt any of them yet... well apart from Hex! I'm currently doing Music A2 Level (taking the exam on Friday) and so transcription is something that I both enjoy and enhances my ability as it's something which is required in the listening exam. So actually spending time doing this is benefiting everyone on here and myself. :D

As for the piano, I'm about to do Grade 8 in July and I've been playing for about 10 years now.

I have no idea what to do after Duel and Katanga are finished - would be useful if anyone could give me some ideas?

I'm glad your here. ;)

Your Hex video was excellent and I really enjoyed it, I would love to see some more video's. :)

Keep up the good work. :D

Aaaah yes! My sort of thread! :D Been meaning to transcribe some of Europa Park's Music. Theres a fantastic piece called Composers Reflections that I started but haven't got round to finishing due to uni work and performances that take up my time.

It'll turn up! :D

Love your Transcriptions too! :D The only issue I saw was in your arrangement of Towers Street the main theme in the right hand should be in triplets rather than dotted quavers and semi quavers. It's not that much of an issue though, as the player would subconsciously match these up with the triplets in the left hand, but in reality it's ever so slightly out of time. That's the percussionist in me coming out! XD

Great Job though!

I see what you mean, I thought it sounded slightly strange on the MIDI notation but I couldn't work out why :) Think I'll leave it as it is though, it's so slight that it's not worth updating the pdf for.

Could I possibly request that this thread be moved back to General Discussion? It was in there originally and it's more to do with AT than it is to do with other stuff :D

These are bloody brilliant Psychoaster!

I've always wanted to play some Alton themes (particularly Hex) but I've never had the patience (or ability) to learn them by ear and transcribe them! Thank you so much for taking the time and effort to do so and sharing them with us! They're bloody fantastic!

If I could thank your post 100 times I honestly would! ;D

Oh and as for a suggestion for your next piece... could I be cheeky and ask for Colossus' theme at Thorpe? :p

Thanks mate! I love the Colossus theme as an orchestral arrangement, not sure how well it would work for piano. I could have a go at the marching string/brass section in it though, that sounds like it could work on piano. :)

All very good, but one question, when these are completely done will you be cleaning up the scores? There are a number of sections which would be terribly unsettling to sight read!

I shall no doubt be contributing some of my own sheets when I can be bothered to get around to it :) I've got some things which I've done for uni. Recently did a big band arrangement of this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2VUOS4wACFE) for my course! I love arranging! :D

I'd prefer the sheets to be slightly more complex in order to make them sound better in comparison to the real thing - if that means that they take a little more practising to learn then I'm sure anyone dedicated enough would have no trouble ;)

Right. Here it is, my transcription of "Composers Reflections" from Europa Park.

It's still gonna be cleaned up a little, but this is more or less 98% right. All done by ear, so if you do see any imperfections, my apologies, but I've got a pretty good ear for pitch. (There may be some doubles with notes, I tend to do that, I shall be tidying that up soon though)

and this link is the midi. (not the same as the original but ya know.)

I've not done dynamics yet, or written much with performance marks, but I'm hoping if you want to play this you know it already so you can adjust accordingly.

Enjoy! Any comments welcome!

I'm glad you like it! A word of warning though, it's not easy! I've not even tried playing it yet! Ahaha

Took me about 2 days to do from ear whoop whoop!

EDIT:

Just realised. Bars 27-30 contain really really MASSIVE chords in the left hand. They are impossible (unless you're Rachmaninoff). So play the B and the C's that are in the left hand in the right hand instead. Why this happened, I do not know. Stupid mistake! My apologies.

Also, if anyone wants the HQ copies, email me, message me on fb, or PM me! :)

Sorry guys, I wanted to edit the message with the score for Composers Reflections so I could update it, but for some strange reason it won't let me modify the post.

But yeah, here is the revised and fix version, removed pedal markings, changed a key to one easier to read and fixed my silly mistakes!

Finally got back around to finishing the Duel theme. I'm actually going to play this through and upload to YT as well :)

Those EP sheets look insane as well Mankey, can't believe you did all that from ear in 2 days!
