I don't believe there's a conspiracy, what would be the point?

Besides, our own pictures confirm the amount of track at the station end of the site, and the state of the station.

I fully believe the picture was taken yesterday.

You might believe, but some other clearly still don't Blaze.

Yes, don't think for one minute that the pictures are from the day they are posted. I think we should chip in for a hot air balloon flight over the area.

Re: Secret Weapon 7 Discussion Continued

Perhaps in this instance, but there has been a considerable lag between the taking and posting of some images.

The aerial photography being conducted by TT is generating huge amounts of traffic to their website, as will have been the intention of the programme in the first place. It is liable for some degree of manipulation, in my view.

The smokescreen-like comments about them agreeing with Alton Towers not to reveal the pioneering element and then coming out and saying they are independent and took the decision themselves comes across entirely as interest-generating literature.

Re: Secret Weapon 7 Discussion Continued

TT have indicated that this was taken yesterday, there is no reason to disbelieve that. Therefore lets stay on topic. Any actions on previous images or the motives behind hiring an airplane are not for this topic.

Many thanks

Even the mods are in on it... We are all doomed.

Re: Secret Weapon 7 Discussion Continued

I have no idea how the equivalent situation with Rita unfolded in 2005 as I didn't visit in that year, however;

I'm not sure I can visualise the park - and certainly not the X Sector - open if the ride isn't ready. Surely the amount of upset it would cause in disappointment wouldn't be worth it.

It is a damn sight easier to close X-Sector then move the open date......

Why can't you visualise the park open without SW7?

Re: Secret Weapon 7 Discussion Continued

Keep X Sector closed, what better way to get guests to come back than having it closed off, covered in banners saying "World beating new ride, opening in *countdown here*"? Even more so if they advertise the two flats getting refurbed and if X Sector gets some TLC.

Just the amount of disappointment and complaints...cue a 55,000-like viral Facebook post bitch etc. Especially since it would probably be testing by then as well.

Re: Secret Weapon 7 Discussion Continued

If the whole of X-Sector had to be closed until SW7 opening then would either have to offer a reduced entry fee until it was all open again or give away vouchers offering very cheap tickets once SW7 is open. I don't think it would be acceptable to open the park 3 rides down before you even take SW7 into account without offering some form of compensation. Personally I think they will have Oblivion open on the 16th, but not Submission or Enterprise.

:)

Secret Weapon 7 Discussion Continued

Would be nice to officially open the ride for summer, then keep the park open throughout winter. Spin it into a good thing and soften the blow to themselves and the public! Surely the best time to switch to year round openings would be the year of a major investment, would also further justify the change in MAP drinks. I don't remotely believe this will happen, but it would be a good move! As for the lack of indoor attractions, well I visited Phantasialand this winter and there are very few indoor attractions there too! Just light some fires and let people get on with it.

Re: Secret Weapon 7 Discussion Continued

I think Blivvy would be opened in some way without the rest of X Sector and as I said earlier I think they will provide compensation through return vouchers for reduced entry if SW7 doesn't open with the rest of the park.

Tom, as long as the ride is not advertised to be open - then they shouldn't receive too much disappointment. It's not feasible to hold off the park's opening for it - and if the ride is delayed officially I'm sure the park will give notice.

Re: Secret Weapon 7 Discussion Continued

I think that if it doesn't open by the 16th, X-Sector will remain closed until it does. I can't see how they could open even Oblivion, let alone Submission or Enterprise without having to close the access road and therefore inhibit valuable construction space.

Re: Secret Weapon 7 Discussion Continued

They can easily work around keeping Oblivion open. Subs and Ents though will be near impossible to allow safe access to. Am I right in thinking that they could create a diversion into the back of X-Sector for access to Oblivion? I'm sure there's a hidden path of some description back there (behind Fried Chicken Co.).

If the ride is indeed delayed (I would be inclined to believe this now) Alton Towers really need to get some form of a press release out asap. Most people will assume that a new ride will open when the park opens in March. So Alton Towers need to advertise a new opening date if this is indeed the case.

I thought that path only leads to the exit of Oblivion though. To get into the queueline you have to walk down the hill and past the hole - right into the current construction site.

Isn't there various emergency exits that could be used on Oblivions Q?

They could, in theory, create a temporary queue which either utilises the ride exit, or enters the queue line through emergency exits?

Re: Secret Weapon 7 Discussion Continued

The only way to access Oblivion is via the exit ramp and through the main entrance, there would be no other way to send people.

Re: Secret Weapon 7 Discussion Continued

Here is what they could do. Red would be the route to Oblivion. Blue would be a fence stopping people from going anywhere near the site. It could work.

:)

Re: Secret Weapon 7 Discussion Continued

Access to Oblivion would be easy to do, coming in from the top past the arcade to the entrance, and it might be possible to fence off everything to let people get to Subs, but Ents would be a no-go :)
