I think the main reason they went with Gerstlauer is because of Cobra its their Coaster model. And to have a ride package deal to refurb Cobra and get a new coaster sounds pretty reasonable.
Having just done Takabisha my opinion of Eurofighters has definitely increased

I dont buy that as the root cause. B&Ms dive machines are taller, wider and much heavier relative to the track than a Euro Fighter. They are very smooth.

I can't even think of the last new well received coaster that had OTSR. Lots of the major parks (eg Efteling and Disney) have long ago retrofitted their family thrill coasters with vest restraints presumably at least partly based on customer feedback.
Sorry to stray off topic somewhat but was thinking about this... not sure if it qualifies but i wonder if F.L.Y at Phantasialand qualifies as the last great OTSR coaster?
