Not really sure how to contact them directly, but you could try the general Theme Park Switchboard, I'm sure they could point you in the right direction.

So I applied for Ride Host/Op this season and got a missed called Saturday 2nd Feb and a voice mail from the Resort saying. ''Hi Snorlix thanks for contacting the Alton Towers Resort my names ******** I understand you want to work on the Rides Team. This phone call was to invite you to the assessment centre Obviously you cant get back to the phone right now however I shall contact you in the near future.''
Now I haven't heard anything since and im quite worried that Ive blown my chance if that makes sense? I have contacted HR who said they've sent him a email on my behalf saying Ive tried to get back in touch but still haven't heard nothing and obviously getting quite worried.
Oh the number that they phoned on also was withheld so i cant ring it back.
Suggestions, Hints, Tips?

Difficult question considering nobody knows when it actually will open! xD
If you're restricted to weekends and school holidays then you'll probably face a similar wait no matter when you go! The biggest and newest ride in the park is always going to be busy on a weekend or school holiday during 2013

I want to go to the park over one of the weekdays during half term, but don't have a car - and the buses seem a bit rubbish.

I'm in Wolverhampton, which train station is the best one to get off at - are there any other bus services running? Is a taxi from one of the stations ie Stafford / Uttoxeter going to be silly expensive? Any advice?

Taxis could be expensive (£20-£25 region I think). The bus from Stafford takes around an hour?! from what I seem to remember being told, whereas the Uttoxeter one takes around 20 - 30 minutes.
I normally go into Uttoxeter and get the 32A which picks up from right out the station and drops just inside the service entrance if my memory serves me right.
You can find the timetable for this here: 32A Timetable
If you scroll about halfway down there, you will find the Uttoxeter - Hanley timetable, which is the one you want should you go in via Uttox. Hope this helps

There is enough taxis circling at Uttox and they usually have cards wedged at the bus stop so just take one.

If you have printed your own tickets you do simply just go to a turnstyle and scan it yourself, so I shouldnt think you need anything.
What new Duel entrance? It was the same this weekend as its always been.
