Ian is bang on the money here. PB have a high security presence both at the gate and on the park itself, thats no different now to how it was during the days of free entry. I do also find people grossly exadurate the 'problems' the park had in the 80's-90's, sure there was the odd punch up, nothing that would spoil your day, and lets be honist, there is still the odd punch up, just like anywhere else that attracts such numbers, which is why most major parks have some form of security.

I do here what your saying Rollercoasters4life, but I find that BPB are doing themselves more harm than good with the current system. Lets just say that BPB's busiest day ever in the parks 117 year history was in 1997, co-insidence it may be that it wasn't beaten in 1998-1999, but since 2000 when wristbands came in, its been lightyears away from being beaten, I'm talking big bucks here, over half a million in an illumination Sat, and there's how many of them a year, 8-9?

According to coasterjamie on CPBE, Wallace and Gromit will be opening this Friday. There's a VIP event in the morning, after which it will open fully.

I don't really see why the entrance fee needs to have any impact on security in the park. They could scrap it entirely but retain the current system where everyone is screened by security before entering and denying entry to anyone who's had a few too many (the odd drink is fine, but people who turn up wasted are likely to be more trouble then they're worth). I think the current system is damaging to the park, as they're missing out on a lot of custom from people who might not be able to afford wristbands for the whole family, but might still be willing to pay up to (say) £50 on tickets. These people aren't going to be interested in doing just a couple of rides each (getting 4 people into the park and on PMBO and Valhalla currently costs a staggering £68), but if they can get on 5-6 rides each for that sort of money then the park will be able to tap into the market of part-day visitors.

Someone posted figures somewhere that actually proved Mandy was right financially.

As someone who has been going since his tiny years, and loves the place dearly, it being pay to enter disappoints me. However, if it keeps the place ticking over and prevents the overlords from buying everything in existence then so be it.

The tourism economy in the UK has vastly changed, we desperately need a successful BPB, like the place or not - and Mandy seems to be doing the job (IF those quoted figures a few months ago were right).

The thing is, there is a difference between making enough money to stay afloat, and maximising on oppertunities. I mean how long has it taken them to cotten on to the Halloween money maker that is Vampire Beach? Alton and Thorpe are into what, 10 years of doing this?

For a park that was once the unquestioned leader in this country, it sadens me to see it performing the way it does today.

There's a couple of new offers/promotions/deals at BPB:

http://www.blackpoolpleasurebeach.com/offers-promotions/

1st up - VIP rides on PMBO. For the next 3 Saturdays BPB are offering 90 minutes ERT on PMBO for an additional £15 on top of a wristband (or just £15 for season pass holders). I'm not too sure what to make of this really, as the park is open for 10 hours anyway it doesn't seem that great an offer to me. I guess if you were a massive PMBO fan it might be more appealing.

2nd - "rainy day returner" - following on from similar offers at Camelot and Chessington (maybe others), BPB are now offering free return if your trip is a wash out. There are a number of conditions though:
- minimum of 3hrs continuous rain
- you must not remove your wristband, and retain your receipt
- your return visit must be on the next day

Nice idea from BPB, but realistically restricting the offer to next day only will make it very difficult for a lot of people to actually make use of the offer. I certainly won't be complaining if it rained during our Merlinpool meet this year if it meant I got a 2nd day free though.

I guess in theory there's nothing stopping you from leaving the park and doing something else on the rainy day then coming back the day after, though of course if it stopped raining too soon you'd lose out.

Surely not removing your wristband is a huge flaw, as the ink that shows the date could easily be washed off in the shower/bath?

It's in the T&Cs:
You must not shower or bathe.

Wow, Pleasure Beach really are going all out with IPs now. This also hits home at how much I miss Turtle Chase.

Oh, and the identity of the famous 'award-winning angler' is actually HR Manager, Pam Roberts, as reported here.

TMNT are now a franchise partly owned by Nickelodeon (At least the 2012 TV Series is). So it's probably just a new attraction in Nickelodeon Land

Not only that, but it seems stupidly short notice lol!

There is teaser marketing that develops intrigue, and there is marketing that takes so long, by the time it gets out, no one can actually plan to visit it.

Good Friday bank holiday, when most people are off and likely to be planning a trip if at all, and they announce it the day before lol!

*slow clap*

The queue reminds me of the room in the Rock N Roller Coaster where all the records are. That's horrible as well

At first glance I thought it was the entrance to the toilets. Very underwhelming, which is a shame as the rest looks fantastic.
