New Cable-Car for London - Emirates Airline

Not a surprise it's a financial waste, it goes nowhere remotely useful for the majority...

Silly thing to build really...

I'm not surprised either. It doesn't serve any useful purpose whatsoever. Massive waste of time.

This is the man aiming to be next PM it seems.

Hey, maybe we can convince him an Intamin Hyper is the best way to travel around London's tourist attractions? Just tell him one his corporate chums can sponsor it.

Job Done!

Mayor, hard job? Pah!

But it's clearly not meant to be 'useful'. It's meant to be a tourist attraction, it's meant to be fun. I enjoyed it very much when I rode it - the views are spectacular.

This could be very clever forward planning - it may begin turning a profit once the entertainment hubs around each of its terminii have developed in a few years. :)

If there's an entertainment hub at the other end, then it may improve.

What I mean by useful is that it takes you from the O2, where there is stuff to do, to a part of London where there is nothing there. If one ticket took you there and back I wouldn't mind it, but it just seems kinda pointless. I wasn't majorly impressed with the view either - you got a fantastic view of the Canary Wharf towers, but that's about it.

I realise this is a really moany post, and at the end of the day it's just a cable car. I suppose if there was more to do at the other side, I'd probably like it. I just find it kinda odd, that's all.

It makes me laugh that the article says there are only 16 regular people who use it :p I remember when it was being built they said it would be great for regular users. Clearly not!

Shame that so far its useful as neither. Maybe if they had marketed properly as a tourist attraction it would have worked out more successfully.

Well I found it useful for when I went to see the Rolling Stones at the O2 last year as our hotel was on the over side of the river. It does provide awesome views and was enjoyable.

It does seem like a strange location for it though generally.

While it is the strangest thing in existence in London, it does now make it possible for one to travel from Baker Street to ExCel without 2 train changes and a whole lot of painful waiting on the DLR!

Even without it, it only takes one train change from Baker Street to the ExCel

Don't get me wrong, it's grand for this kind of thing. However, as an extension of the TFL network it isn't a feasible addition. If they'd have pushed it forwards as a tourist attraction per se I think people would have been more comfortable with it now.

Right, Jubilee line to Canning Town. Take DLR to Royal Victoria. Well ignore anything I previously said.
