The fact that the advocates dancing outside include some actors that resemble some rather recognisable (and rather tall) Towers employees dismisses the possibility of it being amateur.

I think Miles acts pretty well as a brain washed crazy smiling man...

Not sure what all the criticism is about. As always.

I also noticed this.

A couple of times he starts a sentence and then is inflections finish it, and then he remembers the next bit and he adds the end of the sentence. My guess is it is either someone who isn't well versed in acting, i.e. an amateur, or that they were deliberately going for this. But my question is why would they deliberately go for this.

I think they were diliberately doing this. Why? Well, Miles surprised by the fact that they're filming - he's not in his comfort zone. Why he's not comfortable with filming is a bigger question though; maybe he doesn't want something to be found out, maybe it's becuase he's been brainwashed and reacts badly to it. Who knows? When you're not comfortable with something, you're not going to speak normally, you may stutter or your sentences may be very jolty. It seems like a very natural response to me; Miles is a bit taken back and he's got something to hide. All felt very real to me.

Hey Fredward... to be fair... I was (and am) Mathmosman on TowersTimes. When the site changed, I merely continued my name, which I do in a lot of places - and also, I'm that on Twitter, if you wish to follow me!

lol! I was only joking around! :p

from being a Valve fan who often use arg's in game releases and updates, you almost get a paranoid sense to check members as they have been known to use existing forum user accounts to continue story.

When Portal 2 was entering the final stage of release GLaDOS 'hacked' well known forum users and these people disappeared from forums, I doubt towers would go to this level in all honesty! :p

EDIT:

also been snooping more, seeing if I can find another video by that TBWA/manchester company, seeing if I can recognise the Miles actor, Gerry Cannel, the amazing Dr Kelman likes them on facebook.... ;)

My theory what the videos she picked up contains. Miles' tests on him by maybe Kelman, Sanctuary is supposed to have taken place in the '50's, This is set in present day, Miles is perhaps Kelman's apprentice and now leader, they have kept the name Sanctuary, as homage to his work but seem much more subtle about it.

I'm looking forward to seeing this story progress regardless of whether it's official!

Miles looks like Adam Buxton.

I don't really get it. It's very subliminal advertising and seems to be accessed purely by those who are fully aware of The Smiler.

Yeah, if this is official then Alton really need to work a way of making it viral and making sure their target market finds this with ease.

The fact the video was accidentally found by an enthusiast just goes to show that it's not quite a viral piece of marketing.

Even just Alton Towers' Facebook posting this would be immediately make it viral.

problem is posting it on Alton Towers facebook, ruins the story of it. It's like breaking the third wall! :p

Need a war of the worlds style thing, do a fake news article saying these people are missing. :p

Also, if this was enthusiast made, you'd think the fake twitters would have followed Towers. ;)

I know it ruins the whole point by posting it on Facebook. Although to be honest, none of the general public will find this. It's kind of a waste. Only really us lot that will be pleased by it and I would assume if this is official they will want it to reach out to a wide audience.

But you can say the same thing about Universal's way of introducing a backstory to Halloween Horror Nights and it's central character and that is up there with the best "marketing" anybody in this industry does.

that's why I say market it with other means, now a fake news report may not be plausible, but if they could advertise it without connecting it to towers and reach it out to a big audience, then when the story is finally revealed to be advertising the new ride, it will probably work much better and market to people better then Alton Towers just saying "look what we made."

Maybe perhaps make it a Youtube ad?

Maybe they're expecting the geeks to share the video on FB/twitter? That's generally how viral things get going, but at the moment it only seems to be passed round the geeks

problem is theme park geeks aren't a big online presence compared to other media. It works if this was for a game or movie as massive online community's will throw it around. I think roller coaster community's aren't really big enough to create a viral video.

Um, anyone else? Had an email alert informing me of a follow request. Go to Twitter and no such request exists. Weird?

https://twitter.com/milescedars

found the account... but I'm unsure, it may just be a fanmade one inspired by the movie,

it's only been set up today, but still has the idea of a lot of effort put in.

So I don't know, I've followed them just in case.

The people they've decided to follow, seem more official, then what a fanmade account would do... if that makes sense.

Hmm, so under 24 hours after enthusiasts find out about a darn good video and 2 Twitter accounts which have had a build up before the video came to light, the third character now coincidentally appears and tries to essentially copy the other two profiles?

I remain sceptical for the time being. Haven't followed, but will keep an eye on it...
