Re: [The Smiler] Construction Updates and Ride Speculation Part 2

I have no knowledge of coaster testing but I would have thought that they would send it round without stopping (bar at the vertical lift) for the first go, just to make sure it can get round?

It's quite exciting to think that right now, undercover of darkness, it might be going! Equally it might not but it seems like they want to test it out of the public eye to start with.

Re: [The Smiler] Construction Updates and Ride Speculation Part 2

Well as this doesn't have an MCBR, it obviously will run without stopping until the breaks at the end of the first half. ;)

Re: [The Smiler] Construction Updates and Ride Speculation Part 2

I imagine its very common to test rides during the evening/after park close when they first test it. Of course they wouldn't have this problem if it was closed season. Mainly because if something went wrong, eg it didn't make it round, or something more serious happened, the public/geeks wouldn't know about it! I'm sure once its been tested for a while we will see it during the day testing!

Also the ride cant be tested while there are workmen around the site, eg doing paths, queue lines, marmaliser, etc. So its probably better to get that stuff done during the day, then test it during the evenings.

Re: [The Smiler] Construction Updates and Ride Speculation Part 2

Well I heard that testing went on quite late tonight and that you MIGHT get to see it running tomorrow.
Don't blame me if I'm wrong, its only what I've been told! :)

So you heard the exact same rumour that everyone else did, and you've also asserted that The Smiler *definitely* will either test or not test tomorrow.

Credibility if I ever saw it! :p

I really don't get the arrogance here, I try and give you what news I can and I get it thrown back in my face.
There are one or two people on here who know where I'm at and why I can't be more specific or provide evidence, that's how it is.
I'm not asking for credibility and I don't care if you believe what I say but don't try and score points by trying to make fun of me.
Trust me when I say I know what's happening "rumours" arn't always what they seem.

I think it was just a case of how your post was worded. Dont think it was anything personal

Re: [The Smiler] Construction Updates and Ride Speculation Part 2

TTF has gone a bit crazy after a post suggesting testing has started today.

There is also a couple of references to the Wiki page of The Smiler showing status as 'testing' - it seems no-one knows how to use Wikipedia anymore! The change was made on the 4th of May by an anonymous user whose only other contribution was adding a 'rumoured' opening date, which I have since removed!

EDIT: To deal with the problem of too many people posting the most random nonsense, they've locked the topic....helpful!

Re: [The Smiler] Construction Updates and Ride Speculation Part 2

From pictures on facebook etc, I'm pretty sure I can see wheel l marks on the track, meaning testing last night?

Re: [The Smiler] Construction Updates and Ride Speculation Part 2

ChocolateStarfish we get a lot of trolls and people that want to look big and important by posting untruths and passing them off as fact. So forgive some skepticism, as members have been had by these people in the past.

As for Testing, It has been said that work on queueline, theming etc cant be done during ride testing. so if they have done a late night special, and with the photos of the train on the main ride track adds weight to this comment.
Without knowing the scheduled of work, we will not know if they will carry on with queueline and theming or leave it and go for ride hardware testing.

If anyone is on park today, can you report back on whats happening on the smiler site.

Re: [The Smiler] Construction Updates and Ride Speculation Part 2

Maya can you link which picture you think has the marks on? Cheers.

Woo.

Y'all jealous that this forum is dead, it died long ago honeys. X
This forum isn't even a year old yet, so I'd say that it is quite successfulright now. At least we have quality posts. ;)

In regards to wheel marks, some other Facebook users have also said that they have noticed wheel marks on the track which were not there the other day. This suggests that there was testing last night.

Re: [The Smiler] Construction Updates and Ride Speculation Part 2

Surely if there is any interior work taking place in the tunnel before the 1st lift I assume there can be no testing? The good thing is that it looks as though there were no major cock ups as there's not a smiler train caught between two inversions this morning. Also can work on the inside of the station carry on if the ride is testing? or does the site have to remain clear of any workmen?

Re: [The Smiler] Construction Updates and Ride Speculation Part 2

I think it's almost certain by now some testing has been happening overnight, that's a given.

I can't see any testing happening in the day yet. By the looks of pictures it seems work is still on going around the ride so it's not cleared in the day for any testing to safely happen.

Skepticism is fine, I have no problem with that but arrogant/sarcastic replys I do.

Anyway back on topic, If what I believe is due to happen this afternoon happens then you will get some photos of the trains going around or at least moving on the track.
It's a sunny bank holiday with the park expected to be busy, I think the powers that be would like to have a bit of free publicity.
If it doesn't happen then fine I'll clear off back into my shell.

That video is such a tease! But still, fantastic to see good progress.

Also, looks like the Towers Staff are in BEASTMODE at the end there. Such enthusiastic acting that wouldn't fail to turn heads. Still slightly unsure about the uniform, but the acting, very good!
