Re: [The Smiler] Construction Updates and Ride Speculation Part 2

^ Well either way, a train is now on the transfer track and is loaded with dummies. Testing must be imminent if it hasn't already happened.

T2G saying on FB that the train has now moved into the station, loaded with the dummies.

Re: [The Smiler] Construction Updates and Ride Speculation Part 2

I popped over to Towers today. I thought you would like some more photos. Firstly I will point out that there were lumps of mud in places on the track where wheels would have gone which indicates to me that no cars have been sent round yet, Also there was no testing of the ride today.
The footers at the top are now all black

The fences around the are were getting all of those missing panels added, like here by the toilets.

Also the banner was removed for one section and the gap was drawing quite a crowd. It wasn't just enthusiasts either, the majority of the gawpers were members of the general public who seemed convinced the vertical lift was a drop.
P1050132.JPG

Lights have been placed around the ride too. These all look tempor

These are the guys who are installing the lighting. Cake, if you don't know are the advertising company that are used by Merlin at the moment.
P1050041.JPG

Whats that I hear? what do those labels on the packing crates say? I think they may say how long the lights are going to be on site!
P1050045.JPG

And since I do like wires that go into boxes with lights on them:

Steps (2,3,4) have been added to the area. These are the ones that I photographed in the car park last week.
P1050076.JPG

And here we see one of the official step testers testing the steps.

OK onto the station. It seems that the station and the track had the same constructors. This bit doesn't quite seem to fit. I do hope that they finish this bit.
P1050101.JPG

Swirls and legs and hmm whats that at the bottom?
P1050123.JPG

Urm one min let me reposition myself and zoom in a bit.. ahh that's better.
P1050146.JPG

Ohh I wonder what we can see through the other doors? Oooh look a red thing.
P1050143.JPG

And through the other doors? Not as much but look, between them they have installed a telly and left the box on it. Now that's clever.
P1050067.JPG

But the tunnel at the start of the first lift hill has something interesting in it.
P1050157.JPG

The bottom area is now mostly paved.
P1050096.JPG

The marmaliser has some dodgy pixels though.

Finally, my usual overview

Never in a million years did I expect them to do that. They look so much better this way rather than just leaving it as exposed concrete.

Re: [The Smiler] Construction Updates and Ride Speculation Part 2

With all them lights that says to me their are either filming parts of the TV advert (maybe in the evening?), promotional shots or for the press event.

But certainly something to look out for in the next day or two.

Also the site is looking really complete now, it now seems to be just minor things around the site to finish now, its looking very good. And i'm glad they have painted the concrete, it looks much nicer where the supports are.

Re: [The Smiler] Construction Updates and Ride Speculation Part 2

Yeah, the lighting is clearly temporary, so it'll be for filming in the evenings.

Re: [The Smiler] Construction Updates and Ride Speculation Part 2

Black... absorbs heat.... Hope AT have done their homework painting the footers black. :p

Re: [The Smiler] Construction Updates and Ride Speculation Part 2

Not true. I believe it said that the amount of extra heat absorbed was minimal and that heat can be lost if their is good ventilation. It didn't say that black does not absorb heat.

Re: [The Smiler] Construction Updates and Ride Speculation Part 2

The lighting is definitely temporary and, this packing label states that its only there till the 8th at the latest.

Re: [The Smiler] Construction Updates and Ride Speculation Part 2

Someone kick the Tardis control panel, we're stuck in a time loop

Re: [The Smiler] Construction Updates and Ride Speculation Part 2

Think about it, if it for adverts, they have to do it at night to capture the Flasher and Marm screen in full effect.

I think what will result is a sneak preview as to how absolutely brilliant this will be at Scarefest.

Re: [The Smiler] Construction Updates and Ride Speculation Part 2

I doubted that it would be for the adverts as you would think that they would've finished the adverts at this time!

Maybe they could be for some off ride shots of testing which will be released in the not so distant future?
