There could be themed toys! I noticed the ones at Thorpe park next to Swarm all have Swarm jumpers on.

It pains me to say this, but I really do like the games stall. It looks really good, much better than I was expecting. I just hope it's not ruined with big soft toys hanging all around it.
You won't be able to see the swirly paint for all the bright pink metre wide stuffed doughnuts. :'(

They'd ruin it!

Does anyone reckon they'll turn around the signs on the marm legs so that they're orientated the same way around on each? Little details like this make a big difference!

No! The inconsistent orientation of the signs is intended to MESS WITH YOUR MIND and MARMALISE YOUR SENSES!

Surely if they want to launch the ride with a large impact, they really need to give the public a bit of notice before announcing / opening. Two weeks from now doesn't really give a lot of people a huge amount of notice to make plans. They need to be careful opening day isn't a huge flop if they leave it too close to the date before announcing.

You could say that the park can't afford a 'lukeSwarm' reception for this. ;)

Anyone?

Yeah, I'll let myself out...

Re: [The Smiler] Construction Updates and Ride Speculation Part 2

Anyone know what the lights were for yet? There was a lot of light pollution from that direction and what looked like arc lights flailing around really late last night. (unfortunately I was too inebriated to take a photo)

Anyone?

They too will be feeling a bit SAW if they don't get it running smoothly also.

Filming of the advert.

Alton said themselves it isn't for the advert.

That, doesn't mean it isn't for the advert of course.

Re: [The Smiler] Construction Updates and Ride Speculation Part 2

I can't possibly imagine why they'd draft in so much temporary lighting for... nothing. The opening is miles [cedars] away (no pun intended at the time but I did just SMILE to myself, OH HAHA ME), and there isn't, as far as we're aware, anything already filmed.

I think the Twitter lies.

OR. They were filming all the staff doing a YMCA flash mob?

Re: [The Smiler] Construction Updates and Ride Speculation Part 2

I'm thinking its for the press event and they are getting it all set up in plenty of time.

May also be for some promotional photo's and video perhaps?

The date on the boxes says they will be leaving today so I don't think it is for the press event.

But the lighting will be gone well before the press event. It's leaving today isn't it? It wouldn't surprise me if it was for filming the final part of the teaser vids, that will tie the story into The Smiler and reveal the connection.

Edit: beaten to it

Re: [The Smiler] Construction Updates and Ride Speculation Part 2

I think it could simply be for something to do with marketing.

Marketing do spend a hell of a lot of money. So I wouldn't put it past them to hire out such expensive equipment for some small pieces of marketing that's nothing to do with an advert. Who knows though, it could really be for anything at this point. All we know is that it will all be gone today. So it's been a quick job whatever it is.

Re: [The Smiler] Construction Updates and Ride Speculation Part 2

I believe the train at the bottom of the lift hill yesterday has now vanished - sounds to me like AT were perhaps doing some filming last night of the ride in motion. Could be using some of the footage for the 4th installment perhaps where Miles is "strapped" into the ride car for total marmilisation..... hmmm

Re: [The Smiler] Construction Updates and Ride Speculation Part 2

Adverts take a long time to produce. The Smiler's would have been done a long time ago now, perhaps towards the end of last year. We even saw a photo of them doing it when they revealed the trains. It's possible that they're adding additional footage to make the advert clearer to viewers, but more likely, it'll be B-Roll footage for other promotional purposes.

YAYYYY!

Isn't it kind of strange to open on a Thursday though?

No it's not that weird. They are most likely opening it on a Thursday to allow two days to iron out any immediate issues ready for a surge of guests on the weekend. Gives them two days of making sure everything is 100% on the weekend. :)

If I'm correct isn't half term starting that weekend too?
