Art Thread

The artwork in here is amazing. ;D This is something I've been doing in school, still a bit of touching up to do. We had to study Hundertwasser's work. I think his works are bright and happy, cheering up this world.

BUMP!!!

I drew some pictures! :O Thought people may want to see them!

And a slightly subtle Bilbo Baggins at the Barricades, this was drawn for my friend in response to the knitting me a Bilbo Baggins! :p She is a big fan of les miserables, and both of us are big fan of Tolkien

Don't question why Bilbo is at the barricades... it works in mine and her imaginations...

I'm terrible at drawing hands and faces... but i'm working on them, so will get better one day.

What I do could be argued as not being 'art' - however I'll leave the minds of whoever looks at this to be the judge of that.

Here's my latest university project, Linear Substrata, which focuses on the small Welsh town Pontypool.

Linear Substrata is an exploration of the foundations of the small Welsh town, Pontypool. Historically layers build up over time and the once gone history becomes sealed and forgotten. In the town of Pontypool there is a distinct layer beneath the town itself, several basements, cellars and ostensibly some concealed streets lay beneath the current town. This layer of the town, mostly dating back to the early 1800s now lays defunct, with many of the habitants of Pontypool unaware of this concealed layer of the town.

The aim of Linear Substrata is to illustrate to the people of Pontypool the hidden history they walk over day by day.

It's been more of a community based project as opposed to an art one, however since my course is based around using photography as art the project still had to keep these key elements in.

The project is currently in it's second phase (it's now an extra-curricular project and not a part of my studies). Bit of a plug in by me, but if anyone's interested in how the project has progressed and where it is leading you can visit jamesbristow.tumblr.com with all the latest stuff, it also has a load of other images which link in with the above one (I didn't want to clog up this topic with loads of pictures).

Well, depending on what you do with it. :-[

Yes making interesting and amazing models out of LEGO is art, unfortunately Joel's bedroom doesn't count ;)

So for a while now I've been drawing and I've wanted to post in this topic, however since I draw Sonic stuff, I was a bit scared to show it. However I've draw a Adventure Time related picture:

This is Fionna, what do you guys think? =)

Time to bring this thread back with something I turned out in about an hour.
As it turns out, I'm about 2 years too late to make a topical joke. On the other hand, if I'd made this back then the art would've sucked.

Oblivion Hates Fanta

It's been too long since I last did anything with these characters... I need to get back to that once I'm done with Uni.

I thought this would be a suitable topic to post some of my photographs. TheMan asked for some photos of the religious caves near where I live, so here they are; some are Hindu, some are Buddhist, most are both. I have a lot more photos but these are the only ones on my Flickr account.

These are from Kanheri Caves, a former Buddhist monks' village carved from cliffs outside Mumbai.

This is from Elephanta, a mostly Hindu cave network built on a small island off the shore of Mumbai. This is the only photo I have on my Flickr account: one of many phalluses.

This is from another religious site in South-East India.

And now some theme parky ones that I quite like:

Anyone seen (or at least heard of) the Felix the Cat movie? If not, you'll be kinda lost on this one:

Seriously, the whole movie's on Youtube. Just go watch it. It's not highly praised, so let's hope you enjoy bad movies.

Yet more art. Returning to the Alton characters I created about 4 years ago, I decided that the original pictures needed to be completely redrawn as they were ugly and inaccurate. Here's the first:

Alton Island - Nemesis

Who's Nemesis fighting? Another former Forbidden Valley ride - try to guess who ;)

Yay, more arty people!

Not really drawn a lot recently, but here's some Zelda stuff I did not too long ago:

Still a WIP, maybe I'll do some more later:

Shambhala canvas, which I don't feel shall be completed any time soon:

Panda - those Zelda drawings, particularly the first two, are incredible, really talented. electricBlll, I really enjoyed your photos too.
