Pity the fates of young fellows
Too long in bed with no sleep
With their complex romantic attachments
All look on their sorrows and weep
They don't get a moment's reflection
There's always a crowd in their eye
Pity the plight of young fellows
Regard all their worries and cry

Their Christian mothers were lazy perhaps
Leaving it up to the school
Where the moral perspective is hazy perhaps
And the climate oppressively cruel
Give me one acre of cellos
Pitched at some distant regret
Pity the fate of young fellows
And their anxious attempts to forget

"When you're young they fail to tell you
Just say that you're so smart
And you're so special
They take your heart and then they break it
And they take your skull, and then they shake it

But they're never gonna tell you from the start
That the world is gonna break your little heart

They never say the game is rigged
Just that the world's so small, and you're so big
You go and get a job, and you break your back
And you wish that they had told you that

But they're never gonna tell you from the start
Yes, the world is gonna break your little heart

And no-one wants to teach these classes
So they fit you up for rose coloured glasses
The ones you love don't have to love you back
And you can try so hard
But the chance is fat

You buy your land and pay your taxes
And no choice left but to join with the masses
And you don't want to be their soldier
If you don't believe it now, then come back when you're older

But they're never gonna tell you from start
Yes, the world is gonna break your little heart

They're never gonna tell you from the start
Yes, the world is gonna break your little heart"

Shut up
Just shut up
Shut up [3x]
Shut it up, just shut up
Shut up

Shut it up, just shut up

Black Eyed Peas - Shut Up

Hit the road Jack,
and don't you come back no more, no more, no more, no more.
Hit the road Jack,
and don't you come back no more.

I sincerely hope those posts are not an attempt to send me a message. I posted a song which contains lyrics that really connect with me and has been one of my favourite songs for some time, and definitely not a reference to tonight's forum activity, so it would be very disappointing and disheartening if those last two posts did turn out to be some directed abuse.

Calm down buzz killington...I happen to know diogo is a big fan of musicals/drama, with that being one of his favourite tracks, and the black eyed peas are well, just the black eyed peas....

Anyway, one of my favourite songs is no apologies by eminem and this verse is fantastic:

My head hit's the pillow, a weeping willow, I can't sleep, a pain so deep it bellows
But these cellos help just to keep me mellow, hand's on my head, touched knees to elbow
I'm hunched over, emotion just flows over, these cold shoulders are both frozen, you don't know me
I keep saying it, I can't stress it enough, so keep playing it and stand next to the subs
I choke mic's like asphyxiation when I'm stranglin' my own throat masturbatin'
F*#k yeah i'ma basket case and I mastered this rap sh*t, 'till my ass gets wasted, 'till my
assassination.
'till I'm slain 'cause of some fag's infatuation
44 mags a fascination, a taste for disaster and if that's the case then..

No apologies, nah suckers I'm not sorry
You can all sue me, y'all could be the cause of me
No apologies, y'all feelin' the force of me
No remorse for me, like there was no recourse for me
No apologies, not even acknowledging you at all
'till I get a call that god's coming
No apologies, laugh fu*#ers it's all funny
I can spit in ya face while your standin' across from me, no apologies

(Don't Worry) If There's A Hell Below We're All Go - Curtis Mayfield

Very culturally insightful into the perceived situation at that time in the USA. :)

[spoken:]
Sisters, niggers, whities, jews, crackers!
Don't worry, if there's hell below, we're all gotta go!
Aaaaaaah!

Sisters, brothers and the whities
Blacks and the crackers
Police and their backers
They're all political actors

Hurry
People running from their worries
While the judge and the juries
Dictate the law that's partly flaw
Cat calling, love balling, fussing and cussing
Top billing now is killing
For peace no-one is willing
Kind of make you get that feeling

Everybody smoke
Use the pill and the dope
Educated fools
From uneducated schools
Pimping people is the rule
Polluted water in the pool
And Nixon talking about don't worry
He says don't worry
He says don't worry
He says don't worry

But they don't know
There can be no show
And if there's a hell below
We're all gonna go

Everybody's praying
And everybody's saying
But when come time to do
Everybody's laying

Just talking about don't worry
They say don't worry
They say don't worry
They say don't worry

Sisters, brothers and the whities
Blacks and the crackers
Police and their backers
They're all political actors

Smoke, the pill and the dope
Educated fools
From uneducated schools
Pimping people is the rule
Polluted water in the pool

And everybody saying don't worry
They say don't worry
They say don't worry
They say don't worry

But they don't know
There can be no show
And if there's a hell below
We're all gonna go

Lord, what we gonna do
Tell me what we gonna do
If everything I say is true?
This ain't no way it ought to be
If only all the mass could see

But they keep talkin' 'bout don't worry
They say don't worry
They say don't worry
They say don't worry

There are a select few in my eyes that can actually write great music.

Would say those that stand out for me are;
Noel Gallagher
Paul weller
Richard Ashcroft
Ian brown/John squire
Sergio pizzorno

There are great artist, but those that can write good music are on another level

I'm not one of these people that places paramount importance on lyric quality, I like most music for the instrumental play and vocal style, however this is my favourite lyrically at the moment - Rush's 'Armor and Sword'

The snakes and arrows a child is heir to
Are enough to leave a thousand cuts
We build our defenses, a place of safety
And leave the darker places unexplored

Sometimes the fortress is too strong
Or the love is too weak
What should have been our armor
Becomes a sharp and angry sword

Our better natures seek elevation
A refuge for the coming night
No one gets to their heaven without a fight

We hold beliefs as a consolation
A way to take us out of ourselves
Meditation or medication
A comfort ,or a promised reward

Sometimes the spirit is too strong
Or the flesh is too weak
Sometimes the need is just too great
For the solace we seek
The suit of shining armor
Becomes a keen and bloody sword

A refuge for the coming night
A future of eternal light
No one gets to their heaven without a fight

Confused alarms of struggle and flight
Blood is drained of color
By the flashes of artillery light
No one gets to their heaven without a fight
The battle flags are flown
At the feet of a god unknown
No one gets to their heaven without a fight

Sometimes the damage is too great
Or the will is too weak
What should have been our armor
Becomes a sharp and burning sword

I guess I should go now
She's waiting to make up
To tell me she's sorry
And how much she missed me
I guess I'm just burnt out
I really should slow down
I'm perfectly fine but
I just need to lie down

She waits for me.
Home waits for me.

Heartattack in a Layby by Porcupine Tree. Stunning song, such simple, yet so well thought out lyrics.

If I had a gun, I'd shoot a hole into the sun, and love would burn this
City down for you. If I had the time, I'd stop the world and make you mine,
And everyday would stay the same with you.

Aaahh
Aaahh

Give you back the dream, and show you now what might have been, if all the
Tears you cry would fade away. I'll be by your side, when they come to say
Goodbye, we will live to fight another day.
'Scuse me if I spoke too soon, my eyes have always followed you around the
Room. 'Cus you're the only God that I will ever need, I'm holding on and
Waiting for the moment to find me.

Aaahh
Aaahh
Aaahh
Aaahh

Hope I didn't speak too soon, my eyes have always followed you around the
Room. 'Cus you're the only God that I will ever need, I'm holding on and
Waiting for the moment for my heart to be unbroken by the sea.

Would like to say Noel Gallagher is the master of lyrics

The watchmaker works all day and long into the night
He pieces things together despite his failing sight

Though all the cogs connects with such poetic grace
Time has left its curse upon this place

Each hour becomes another empty space to fill
Wasted with the care and virtues of his skill

The watchmaker buries something deep within his thoughts
A shadow on a staircase of someone from before
This thing is broken now and cannot be repaired
Fifty years of compromise and aging bodies shared

Eliza, dear, you know, there’s something I should say
I never really loved you but I'll miss you anyway

You were just meant to be temporary while I waited for gold
We filled up the years and I found that I liked having someone to hold

But for you I had to wait
Until one day it was too late

Cogs and levers mesh
We are bound in death
Melt the silver down
I’m still inside you

Steven Wilson being amazing there.

I believe music to be more important than words, this is shown by the fact I can't understand some of the bands I listen to :p

There really is that many mistakes in my posts?! Damn this Tapatalk milarky! :)

I'm of the complete opposite opinion, good music is just a bonus. I enjoy poetry though and find music a very dynamic and effective way to recite poetry.

"Come along with me
To a town beside the sea
We can wander through the forest
And do so as we please

Come along with me
To a cliff under a tree
Where we'll gaze upon the water
As an everlasting dream

All of my affections
I give them all to you
Maybe by next summer
We won't have changed our tunes

I still want to be
In this town beside the sea
Making up new numbers
And living so merrily

All of my affections
I give them all to you
I'll be here for you always
And always be for you

Come along with me
To a town beside the sea
We can wander through the forest
And do so as we please
Living so merrily"

Lyrics to the Island song by Ashley Eriksson, the ending song to Adventure Time.

If I had to choose who I would crown the King of Lyrics it would be either Morrissey or Alex Turner. They are possibly the same person.
