I hate to potentially cause unnecessary speculation, but have a look at this photo:

Is it me or does the wheel assembly look, well not normal? It might just be because the yellow wheel covers do not seem to be attached. Or it could be the way the photo is taken. Something just doesn't look quite right though. It appears the photo was taken from the Spinball queue, with the truck heading away from The Smiler (presumably over towards the Magic HQ and Distribution Centre area).

:)

Also, here is a photo from Towers Nerd Live on Friday showing that train 5 has indeed been running over the weekend, so it wasn't the unused fifth train that stalled:

I knew it, thought I was imagining things. 5.1 was quite a smooth train, 2.1 was rough. Perhaps it had different wheel compounds to the other trains which contributed to the extra smoothness?

Didn't Corkscrew stall once with people on it? Pretty sure that made the news. Quite a while back though. And I think Thirteen has stalled once also.

:)

One of my favourite unconfirmed rumours is that Oblivion stalled once!

Back on topic, it looks as if the train was lifted off the track instead of being pulled round? Maybe they've not fully attatched the wheels back on... Or the way Gerst trains work it looks that way.

Can someone please indicate how these trains are identified? Also, what is the .1 about?

You can see these numbers on the front central square beam just under the 'Mr Twirly' on the front of each train. The first number refers to the train number with the second being the row so 5.1 = Train 5 Row 1.

:)

Maybe they were trying new wheel compounds to cut down the screeching and roaring which caused the stall.

So exited to ride this! Going soon!

Just to check, is the exit of the ride like a scaremaze? Someone said they had actors and I just wandered if it was true.

It's not a scare maze - it's a few corridors where the music has become more relaxed with a few projections and optical illusions thrown in for good measure :)

I remember hearing something about actors or staff chasing people, but I didn't come across anything like that. Could have just been opening day.

No, there is nothing scary about the exit. Think of it as how No Way Out should have been built. ;)

Train 5 has certainly been running the past few days. The 4th train that was not running yesterday was 4. I have no idea what number the 5th train that is yet to be added is.

Hmmm considering that train on a truck photo is from today, perhaps it has been train 5 that us causing the problems. Maybe they are sending it back to gerstlauer.

As funny as it is, you have to feel a bit sorry for towers this time, while the 23rd was a shambles and you could argue bad planning, for this to happen after its properly been signed off and opened. It really is bad luck and not Towers fault.

If you look at the photo on construction update of the train stalled, the wheels are red. and on this photo above the wheels are a creamy white.

Towers have certainly been changing the wheels around due to the very loud noise it has been making the past day or two. However yesterday they were only changing the wheels on number 4. Unless work has been done on the other trains over night.

Was incredibly gutted not to ride yesterday. Means I've only had one ride now... Felt worse for those who were only there for yesterday though, the park was a shambles at times.

I can't be sure BUT the stalled train may well have been the one which was not running on Monday. There was definitely one that was not roaring and it could have been the one which didn't make it round. Unfortunately I was queueing up by the back of Fried Chicken Co so didn't really see what happened.

So, does anyone know whether The Smiler was running 3 or 4 trains today?

:)
