To be honest, they nee a new coaster.
You guys really need to see the hotel, it's epic!

Most of the rides need a lick of paint but otherwise i <3 legoland!

Had a trip a few weeks ago for the first time in a few years and hated it.

I visited Legoland so much as a youngster, to go back and visit it later on and be so disappointed was a bit gutting.

Only a few rides are "up the the standard" in my opinion, and just too many rides and attractions aren't high enough capacity. (For the record, those rides are Viking River Splash, The Dragon and Fairy Tale Brook, maybe Atlantis.)

Atlantis would definitely have been if the ride didn't leave the second you started viewing the fish. (What was there was awesome, it just doesn't last anywhere near long enough)

Also I had never thought of Legoland as suffering from Merlin's lack of maintenance but it certainly does. Fairy Tale Brook (Still one of my favourite rides to be honest) looked absolutely dreadful. Nothing that should have moved did, everything looking as if it was about to break, everything needed a paint and it was a shadow of its former self. This was pretty evident all over the park to be honest.

Laser Raiders is one of the worst rides and queues I have ever experienced. What they were thinking putting such a low capacity ride in, is beyond me. Didn't see a single person come off the ride happy, even those that the ride is supposedly aimed at, and who can blame them after queueing ages for a such short ride with little substance.

It didn't help that all the trains in Miniland weren't working so there wasn't even anything to look at and entertain you there.

Quite a few rides have been cleaned and painted for 2012
Fairy tale brook and boating school have new boats, one side of fire academy was completely re done, and lots of effects have been working again.
Let's hope this lasts throughout the season.

laser raiders has the longest queue. i got an viking river splash, the flume ride and the dragon (twice, needs a lick of paint and some rail oil) before my family got to the front of laser raiders

They messed it all up. Now you have to do extra booking for one of the rides and they removed jungle coaster and lego racers which were quite good.

^Good Rides, but controversial, Jungle coaster too noisy, Lego Racers, too expenisive to keep going.

First, a confession. I have never been to Lego Land. When I was young it was a safari park and so I missed that boat of it being part of my childhood. Although I've wanted to go for a look around for years there has always been a better option so it has never happened.

Second, a question. Next Tuesday (17/7) I find myself in Windsor with my wife and another couple and nothing much planned. So should I bother? I am the only theme park geek type of person in our group, although the others enjoy a day at a theme park like any 'normal' person. Is there any point in four 30 odd year olds going to what is essentially a children's park? I can see from the ride list it is squarely aimed at children / families so do you think 'normal' adults would just be bored, or is there enough to see and do to keep us occupied?

It is a week day and the kids should still be at school, but I'm guessing Lego Land gets hit hard by end of term coach trips about now? Does it make it unbearable / pointless at the moment, should I hold off until a time further away from peak season?

If we end up going I have the standard Merlin BOGOF vouchers, I presume this is the best value way of visiting or is there a cheaper option?

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Lego doesn't get hit with school kids as badly as Thorpe or Chessington - it creates queues, but not as long as queues found at the weekend.

There's a bit to do at lego for adults, but not much. Miniland and creation centre to marvel at lego and potentially any lego model makers who're in. You've got the star wars experience as well (though not seen this in person, and a few reports say its not the best thing in the world).

Atlantis is a fairly decent ride with a good throughput, as is Dragon and Viking River Splash.. so there's a few things to do. If you like retro lego, fairytale brook is quite amusing as well.

However, even if you end up doing everything... it'd still only take a few hours. If you had annual pass, i'd thoroughly recommend it. With bogof, it may not be entirely worth the 20 or so quid each spent on the day.

I would say its great to do with kids or as a family, but not the best place with only adults. There are some nice things there like the miniland, but certainly no rides aimed just as adults. If you were using annual passes then its worth it, but im not sure £20 each would be.

It mainly comes down to if the 4 of you are (or at least were when you were younger) Lego fans or not. If you are then the park will be of interest. I can't guaranty a whole days worth of enjoyment but Miniland alone has enough impressive models to take up a couple of hours.

However I think I would mirror the comments above that the £20 BOGOF might still not be a good enough deal to justify it unless you are sure that everyone in your group will enjoy looking at Lego models for a few hours.

It isn't really worth it for groups of adults, unless you are die hard Lego fans.

When I visit, it is with my Annual Pass, and even then I would only stay 3-4 hours, and I am a big theme park person!

See how we feel on the day I guess, but I'll make sure the others hove low expectations if we do go! Although I don't like being ripped off £20 is not a problem tbh, it's more what is the best use of our time to do something different.

Another question if you don't mind. The weather that day looks shocking, is there a lot of stuff out of the rain? Or will wetness make really miserable?

I find any day at Legoland miserable tbh.
Seriously though, all their rides have water jets to get you wet. Every. Single. One. It is impossible not to get soaked there. Even on a warm day, you end up cold and wet. The thought of being there in the rain is not one I care to think about.

I'm pretty much the biggest Legoland nut there is... and I definitely would not recommend a trip there to a bunch of adults if the forecast is for pouring rain

We will be waking up in Windsor as we are at the races the night before, good chance we'll wake up hungover, broke and fit for nothing anyway!

I do think it is worth doing once, if you've never been before, are a fan of Lego, get a good deal, can go on an off-peak day, and the weather is good.

Many hate it, but I think that's unfair - it is a good park, for the age-range it's aimed at, 'tis just that that's not adults. Doesn't mean adults can't have a good time, but conditions do have to be just right.

Of course, there's always Thorpe.....
