CBeebies Land

Re: 2014: CBeebies Land

Having just watched the clip AstroDan posted, I think if the attraction turns out anything like that it will be a really nice fun attraction, with lots to see and do, especially for young children and disabled children. It might have have a fountain if that episode is anything to go by!

My favorite character has to be Lord Tumble!

Why don't you all quit moaning? :X

Alton Towers have barely released an iota of information about the 2014 themed area, and people are criticising a 'multi sensory garden', which looks like it's ideal for children with specific learning difficulties - because it has a SHED in it? A shed in a garden? Would you believe it.

The Multi-Sensory garden is merely one of many parts to CBeebies land in 2014, and whilst I can understand some concerns over new projects at Alton Towers due to Merlin's general reputation amongst enthusiasts, I really don't think the promotional image released warrants such negativity.

May I print this comment off and send it back to you in the post every day for a year when the area has opened? >:D

When I first saw this image, I immediately thought of a Dung heap/Haunted Hallow combo of disappointment, yet I see it getting so much praise both here and on social networks, people are loving the a Mr Tumble attraction! :D :D
Why are people so impressed and excited? Because they love Mr Tumble. I've seen loads of justin's work through with my young kids and I agree, he's brilliant! But here is the problem, Mr Tumble won't actually be there! so what are we left with? A winding path, a few things dotted along to stop and play with and a shed at the end? It sounds exactly like the sonic spinball queue line and we all know how reliable those experiences are maintained and improved.

Dungheap version 2.0 ::)

Re: 2014: CBeebies Land

I'll be all up for this CBeebies Land, if said multi sensory garden includes taste. Ideally chocolate tbh. ;)

Dungheap and Haunted hollow get loads of criticism here and if parts of CBeebies are on that scale then i imagine it will do to. Same with any attraction really, The Smiler hardly gets praise for amazing theming even if many (myself included) think the ride is great.

I'm leaning towards pessimism but we will have to wait and see.

Going off the comments made on Facebook, Mr Bloom's Nursery:

Re: 2014: CBeebies Land

Why do they have to keep chopping and changing CBeebies. It was brilliant for me in the days of Teletubbies, the Tweenies and Bob the Builder. Now it's all 3D animation.

Re: 2014: CBeebies Land

My biggest concern is maintenance. This type of attraction has to have everything working, and we know how Alton are with things like that...

Re: 2014: CBeebies Land

The same way any channel change their programming. To keep with the times and try and remain fresh to keep viewers.

Re: 2014: CBeebies Land

The BBC will not let Alton Towers conduct poor maintenance on part of CBeebies land.

This won't be like the rest of the park, where Alton Towers pretty much couldn't care less about older rides.

Re: 2014: CBeebies Land

The funny thing with the shed is, if Alton said an attraction was themed to a garden and they didn't have a shed (which apparently is a replica of the one from the show), people would moan it wasn't garden-y enough.

Re: 2014: CBeebies Land

If there doing Mr Bloom there going to need someone a little hunky as he was voted the house wifes favourite. And a good actor mmmmmm

For hands on fun, venture down the garden path to Mr. Bloom’s Allotments. Help friends of Mr. Bloom tend to the plants and feed compo, before heading inside the magical shed to meet the Veggies. CBeebies Land opens at Alton Towers Resort in May 2014!

Re: 2014: CBeebies Land

Sounds brilliant! My younger siblings are big fans of Mr. Bloom's Nursery, and his veggies are rather sweet. If you don't find the cabbage and such endearing, you're heartless. This could turn into a really nice little attraction.

Re: 2014: CBeebies Land

Is that shed good enough for you all? ;)

Seems like another good addition for the area as it's interactive. However, I do hope that there are some rides added in 2015 like people are talking about just to broaden the area a bit more.

Re: 2014: CBeebies Land

I'm certainly noticing a pattern emerging here... sheds! ;)

In all seriousness, I won't judge this until it is all open. I trust that the BBC will want this to be the best that it can be. It's not really going to excite us because it isn't aimed at us. I do like the idea of all these interactive things for the kids, I think it is a lot more imaginative that just an area themed around the shows. Kids will love being able to interact with their favourite shows. Oh and the shed in that promo image does look kinda awesome!

:)

Re: 2014: CBeebies Land

Sheds are the new shipping containers! ;)

That image looks a bit better than the previous one. The interior of the shed sounds a bit like the singing barn - so should be pretty good!

Re: 2014: CBeebies Land

All the veggies are puppets in the show on wooden holders filled with dirt so the kids can't see the puppet handlers so maybe they be animatronic .

Re: 2014: CBeebies Land

I'm not sure if this is the right place for this as a lot of it is just more general construction rather than CBeebies. Mods - If it is wrong please move it to the correct place. Ta.

I was on park today, Yes I know it wasn't really open, today was the last day of the Christmas opening. So Construction - whats new?

CEEBEEBEE's land

All photos taken from within the park from the path that goes down the side of the lake by battle galleons.

The roof looks finished with bright colored bars now adorning the purple tiles.

Lots of scaffolding up around Squirrel Nutties.

New railings now bound the lawn in front of the towers. They look fine apart from the footers are not at ground level which just looks naff. I hope they add some soil at least.

New railings around the moat of the Towers

Twirling Toadstools

Seem to have gone

Yup I'm sure there used to be more to this ride..

P1100767.JPG

Ahr - That makes sense, the last bits of it are being thrown away in this bin. Shame, I liked this ride.

Fallen down trees

On the side of the lawns by the gardens we have had 2 trees that have come down. Not sure if it was recent but they were still clearing it.

Their collapse seems to have done some damage to the walls too

Re: 2014: CBeebies Land

Those railings (sideways ladders) in front of the Towers look horrendous. I quite like a quick spin on the Toadstool occasionally too. I hope they havn't made it disappear for good.......

Cheers for the pics :)

Re: 2014: CBeebies Land

Toadstool will still be in bits for its Winter maintenance. I can't see that excuse for a wave swinger going any time soon!
