CBeebies Land

Re: 2014: CBeebies Land

Spot the Dog is BBC I think. Doubt they will be going for that sadly. :p

I'm personally hoping out for the tractors being rethemed to Postman Pat. :p

Re: 2014: CBeebies Land

I will still aways call it Riverbank! :p

It will be interesting to see how they do create a "journey through real woodland Night Garden". I hope it is more than a few characters dotted around the place and the odd peice of theming. Especially as it is being called a magical boat ride, I really hope that they can make it seem magical.

:)

To be honest, that's pretty much exactly what I'm expecting this one to be :p

However, it should be a big improvement not having the Dung Heap out the back, spoiling the ride. If the Sensory Garden or allotment is going there it should help to make it feel more natural, like the ride used to be before the play area arrived.

Re: 2014: CBeebies Land

The Alton Towers website gives this description for the ride:

Alton Towers said:
The In The Night Garden Magical Boat Ride drifts you and your child into the enchanted dreamworld. From on board the colourful boat enjoy special family moments as you discover Iggle Piggle, Makka Pakka and Upsy Daisy on the Night Garden island. Watch and listen to the sights and sounds of a picture book that has come alive.

And the following small image:

Hopefully a bigger version will be revealed later today.

:)

A larger version from Alton Towers' Twitter:

It seems the woman stood at the back of the boat is somehow supporting the front support of the boat's roof :p

Re: 2014: CBeebies Land

Everything else about that image looks okay, it's just a shame about the people in the boat and the fact that the boat shouldn't fit under that bridge. :p

Re: 2014: CBeebies Land

The people in the boat have no reflection in the water, so are clearly vampires...

Seriously, people get paid to create these images? Whilst I know nowt about Photoshop myself I'm sure there are many non-professionals who can do better jobs...

Re: 2014: CBeebies Land

Yeah, it's so magical the people all appear in front of the canopy supports.

Photoshop issues aside, I'm actually looking forward to this.

Re: 2014: CBeebies Land

Alton Towers have hired M.C. Escher for their new promotional artwork.

Re: 2014: CBeebies Land

I must admit that image doesn't fill me with too much confidence. I don't have a clue what a night time garden is meant to look like but my first guess wouldn't be that!

Oh, and there's a distinct lack of shed in that image! ;)

:)

Re: 2014: CBeebies Land

I don't think that it's been mention here yet but a new mini site for Cbeebies Land can be found here.

Re: 2014: CBeebies Land

This is painful, I see they keep using terms like 'Special family moments' to disguise the fact that it's going to be boring. I'm really quite annoyed as Alton could have really gone to town with this, They are in desperate need of more indoor attractions, especially so they can appeal to winter hotel guests. This IP is an amazing opportunity to pull something really big out of the bag and all they are doing is tarting up the stuff thats already there. Plopsalands Mayaland is a perfect example of what alton should have been looking to achieve.

Re: 2014: CBeebies Land

So am I allowed to start tearing these awful photoshop efforts apart yet?

This whole area is looking like a no go zone for me at the moment. Yes, I know it's early days etc but it looks like a quaint farmyard / storybook theme is being replaced with garish colours and nods towards irritating childrens tv personalitys.

Re: 2014: CBeebies Land

Like always we must wait until it's finished before final judgment but so far it all looks rather lazy and playing it safe.

What they need to do is build a children's dark ride on the ice rink site or at the very least construct something to house highly themed indoor attractions like in the picture above.

I'm sure it will be at least moderately well themed - but this is Alton Towers and they should be aiming for excellence not something that is second rate and not even up to the standard that other parks were producing five years ago (Thomas Land etc).

I can't remember if it was BBC or not, but I'm still holding out to wait and see if Spot the Dog makes an appearance! ;)

Ahhhhh, Spot the Dog would have been amazing! Along with The Shoe People, The Raggydolls, Bertha...

A whole area themed around late 80s/early 90s children's tv :)

Re: 2014: CBeebies Land

I'd have love a Spot the dog attraction! Shame he's not really popular these days, but I did love him when I was little =)

That said, at least the known attractions so far look pretty good. I'm sure this will go down well with the target audience =)

To be fair, the title is pretty misleading. "Night Garden" insinuates that it's a garden, at night; but actually it seems to be a magical garden in the daytime that you visit during sleeping hours (the night). At least that's my understanding of it from the episode I've been watching tonight purely textual research I've been doing.

Re: 2014: CBeebies Land

Just bung a fibreglass spot the dog in the middle of any current attraction and you pretty much have the same as whats in cbeebies land.

Anyone for Spot The Dog: sub Terror?

Spot the dog has buried his bone and can't find it can you help spot* dig down and retrieve his bone before it's lost in the underground caverns forever. Enjoy special family moments as you look for Spots bone and return it safely to his food bowl.

*Please not spot the dog will be a replica model from the popular TV series.

:D :D
