Fair points :) I only said it because say if somebody's mood was happy and sad or was indifferent or was sleepy or whatever... Would they need a thread for every single individual emotion?

There's only two topics so it wouldn't be too problematic if they weren't merged.
Although if someone was to create a sleepy topic, they'd probably fall asleep typing it up.. :p

Difference being, no one cares if you're indifferent, or sleepy. The Happy and Sad threads have pretty much nothing to do with the emotions themselves, rather the reasons behind why people are happy or sad. To compare them to the idea of an 'I feel Sleepy' topic, or similar, somewhat suggests you've missed the point of them.

Agreed. They should remain seperate. If you Are feeling one way, you don't want to be reading about others feeling the oposite end of the emotional spectrum.

Well no, I haven't missed the point of them. The threads are entirely to do with what emotions people are feeling as opposed to having pretty much nothing to do with them. People explain why so that others can understand the emotions involved. Much in the same way that if there were such a thing as an 'I'm sleepy' thread it would be people saying 'I'm sleepy because of X'

Anyway, it was all purely a suggestion based on how I've seen it done (very successfully) on another forum. I agree with the points made about the two feelings being separate in order to help people though.

Like I said, just a suggestion and it's cool to see people think it wouldn't work.

:)

At present these are no issues in having 2 discussions, they do cater to specific and separate tones and often have in depth discussions (especially the sad one where quite often people are supportive of each other) so we will leave them as they are for now.

Thanks for the feedback though, and of course we always welcome input and feedback.

Both the topics sit fine as they are now. There's no overlapping and both serve different purposes, so they both warrant being separate topics.

The only time it would ever become an issue is if we ended up with multiple emotional topics. Such as the neutral topic, the crying topic, the frightened topic... happy and sad (down) are the two main emotions. Main problem with merging them is that you end up with far too many different things going on. You could have someone being congratulated the same time someone else is seeking advice. It doesn't work all too well out. With two topics it keeps these things separate and everything flows well throughout both topics.

It is however a good idea mrbrightside (I somewhat feel like we've all hit you down :p). I know a fair few other forums that have a general 'how are you feeling' topic so it's not something that no other forum does. However for the purpose of TST and the way our community works, and the traffic we have on here - it's best they stay separate. :)

Yeah that's fair enough, like I said, it was just an idea I was throwing out there as opposed to saying it was something that should definitely happen :)

It says "TowersTimes" on some random mibbit tab... I'll have a look to see whats causing that :/

I was just curious as the overal aim of the site is going to be - is it going to eventually be a complete guide to Alton Towers, such as TT?

I don't think the site has to have a single aim, no enthusiast site is complete without a guide to the park and that will certainly be one of the earlier parts of the site to go-online. But i know the History of the park and grounds will also be a major factor as we have one of the best Towers historians on the team. Obviously we always aim to have a good news service as well

Then there is the community aspect, its very important to TST and i know Joel aims to knit the community and the site closer together. Plus a good social media arm that depends on good content rather then giving stuff away.

Wow... I must have been half asleep when I posted that one >< How did I not realise?!

Wasn't sure where to put this and didn't think it deserved it's own topic, so sorry if this is the wrong place :)

Just wondered if anyone could tell me the exact colour used for the background on the actual posts (as in the R,G,B)? I only ask so I can sync the background of my sig to it, I've managed to get it close but the slight difference is starting to annoy me :p

Not sure actually but if you print screen the page then use the "paint dropper" tool in Paint it will copy the colour, i imagine other image programmes do this too.

Joel will probably answer though

I have tried this on two different versions of Firefox on two different Apple machines. But on the new about page after clicking on one of the 5 links, if I want to go back, I will have to press it twice. Not sure if it's right to post it here but is it at my end of the TS End?
