Alton Towers Facts

Whilst Blackpool Pleasure Beach (including accommodation, car parks and venues) takes up 42 acres, Alton Towers as a resort takes up 12 times as much space, at just over 500 acres of land.

if you are queuing for Hex and find yourself coming under fire from flying stones the likelihood is that they are being thrown at you by chavs NOT by the ghost of Charles Talbot, as most haunted would have you believe!

I was in there a few years ago, and there was only myself and my girlfriend and my brother and his girlfriend in the queue. We were getting pinged by stones for ages. Not having been in there before (at the time) and not hearing of the Most Haunted investigation, I assumed that it was all cunning theming surrounding the building works and scaffold etc.
No chavs around then.

Rita is the 10th fastest accelerating coaster in the world.

Didn't know that, thanks. :)

The tallest ride in the park is Rita, at 68 feet, but all of Air, Thirteen and Oblivion are 65 feet tall. However, Oblivion has the highest drop, of 180 feet, with Nemesis having the second, at 104 feet.

I'm really loving this topic! I'm entering a 'Charity Mastermind' at work soon and my specialist subject is 'Alton Towers 1980 - Present' :)

Just seen this topic, and as a Pirate Show geek I have to point this out!

Edward England is the coolest pirate you will ever meet. Fact.

Sir Edward England is not a pirate, he's a member of his majesty's navy, (said in a very camp voice)! ;)

Comedian Greg Davies (Who plays Mr. Gilbert in The Inbetweeners) Was scared to go on Corkscrew when he was 15!

Although the Monorail system was built by Von Roll, the trains were built by CWA Constructions (Which, unlike Von Roll, still exisits!)

Ah, yes! He cried, didn't he? :p

Correct Jon, Was you watching Dave's one night stand as well? ;D

I wasn't watching it, no, but I remember that little fact from watching it previously.

Anyway, this is getting a bit off-topic. :p

Renny Krupinski (the Oblivion man) has been arranging fights for all his life in the media most notably for Corination Street from 2000.

Was the track layout of the Monorail modified in anyway once it was purchased from the expo, or was the layout they were using perfect for Alton?

The system is unique for Alton and was built specially for it, the old track layout they had at the expo was quite different, it was longer and had 5 or 6 stations :)

Charlie and the chocolate factory is based off Roald Dahl 's original book and neither the 1971 or 2005 film adaptations.
