I've got a stay booked in July and the hotels app says all of those rides will be closed for maintenance. I hope it's just because they haven't confirmed a date yet!
Towers have some absolutely fantastic history and the most we get is the stuff that's screwed to the wall of the RCR. A Europa-style exhibition would be very welcomed, potentially in one of the public spaces.
Thanks for popping on to clear that up, apologies for getting the wrong end of the stick and repeating it. Hopefully the stars will align to enable us to hear the audio again at some point in the future.
It boggles my mind that nobody at Towers/Merlin can see the potential of at least a tearoom in the gardens, either near the Swiss Cottage or the Greenhouse.
The Euro Theme Park Archive guy has all of the original Hex audio I believe - I seem to remember him winning the auction when it was on eBay. The original preshow audio and an alternative version of the vault music was on his Soundcloud a few years ago but it only lasted for about 6 months...
Again, thanks for the feedback. I'm now trying to decide between the 3 hotels closest to the entrance. Out of Alcazar, Andaluz and Santa Isabel, which one would you say feels the most 'premium'? I know Santa Isabel is a 4* 'superior' and the other two aren't, but it's not always about the rating.
Thanks to both of you for your input. I'd kind of set my heart on Kronasar because it just blew me away, but with my parents and my daughter an easy end to the end of the day would be a big advantage. Do all the hotels use the hotel entrance that is part of Santa Isabel then?
That's brilliant, thank you very much. I think I've zoned in on my dates in July with your help. Looking at the train and flight prices I'm genuinely considering just driving it for the huge amount of money it will save!
Afternoon all.
My parents were never huge theme park people when I was younger (and indeed I was a massive wuss as a kid!) but they nonetheless took me to all of the usual places around the north west where I grew up (BPB, Pleasureland, Camelot, Frontierland). Over the years we've done a few...
Just back from a full day out at Drayton. Took a few pics:
View from inside the park including the scaffolding on the Buffalo station
Is that an old Excalibur boat in the storage area with the rest of the Disk-o parts?
Yep, that’s a Disk-o alright
Can’t quite decide if that’s...
It's a fair point - for most people planning your FP+ 30 or 90 days in advance was a bit much. I loved it though, helped me build the excitement.
My biggest grip is the loss of value. Disney is expensive, and will always be so but you felt like you were getting a lot thrown in - FastPass+...
I'm *very* interested to see if this actually leads to shorter standby Qs due to reduced utilisation of the Lightning Lane. I don't think it will though. This is money grabbing, plain and simple. I actually cancelled our planned 4 day Christmas break at DLRP over this, and it's causing us to...
WARNING: Slighty tipsy rant incoming.
Having visited the House of Mouse last year (sadly just weeks before the Skyliner opened, but it was testing) I clicked on this topic to see what the current thinking was around the monorail. It's funny to think that when Pearson bought the park it must...
Hacked off is where I was during the Great SBNO Phase (post accident). I've reached a stage of dull resignation now where I'm sick of paying to go and just generally feeling terrible afterwards. It doesn't help that I went out to Florida in August last year either. I'm going to give myself...
I've actually dug out my username and reset my password to post this. 2020 will be the first time in 20 years I will not be visiting Alton Towers. I've been in and out of love with the park over the past two decades (mostly in, to be honest), but a trip during Scarefest last year just rammed...
