[2024] Nemesis Reborn: Construction and Speculation

There was one season several years ago when they found cracks in the chassis of one the trains during the of-season. They had to get new parts manufactured by B&M but due to the time that took they had to run on one train for a good chunk of the early season.

[2024] Nemesis Reborn: Construction and Speculation

Have we heard anything from John Wardley recently? Obviously he was there for the opening and closing of the original Nemesis. Will he be there for the opening of Nemesis Reborn? Do we know if it has had human riders yet? And yeah to respond to the points above, no chance that AT would have...

[2024] Nemesis Reborn: Construction and Speculation

I suspect it will be normal queue times pretty soon after opening. People might be more inclined to ride it during their day at the park because they haven't been able to do so for a year but it isn't like it is a completely brand new ride experience. It has one of the better throughputs of the...

X-Sector's Future (including Oblivion and The Smiler)

Very unlikely I would think: 1. It would require full planning permission rather than that 'lawfulness of works' application that that they did for Nemesis which stands a high chance of being rejected in that corner of the park. 2. Space. Where else can it really go? 3. Height/speed. The...

X-Sector's Future (including Oblivion and The Smiler)

Neither of the coasters are going anywhere. They will find a way to keep them running although I can see Alton Towers letting them fall into even more of a state before doing anything. Just too many competing priorities for Alton Towers at the moment which cost time and money. Smiler is still a...

[2024] Nemesis Reborn: Construction and Speculation

That looked nice and gradual to me. If you want e-stop every ride try riding Zadra at Energylandia. That thing feels like a car crash every time you hit the brakes.

[2024] Nemesis Reborn: Construction and Speculation

I feel like the park probably don't know for sure yet. They definitely can't commit to a date until the ride has completed testing and been signed off. It probably depends on what work is essential to get completed before the ride can open to the public and what bits of work can be finished off...

[2024] Nemesis Reborn: Construction and Speculation

Perhaps. Or maybe testing different things with the wheel assemblies/wheel compounds (sometimes rollercoasters run with a mix of different wheel compounds to get the right performance). It does like like one of the trains is running without the wheel covers on rows 7 and 8 but the other train...

[2024] Nemesis Reborn: Construction and Speculation

I did always used to find the steps queueline down by the lift hill waterfall a bit precarious, particularly on a rainy day as it is quite steep and narrow and the steps could get quite slippery when wet. And then you had to walk up another set of steps to get back to pretty much the same height...

[2024] Nemesis Reborn: Construction and Speculation

They do extensive non-destructive testing of the trains every closed season and replace/refurbish bits as needed. This time they have had a whole season and a half to refurbish the trains if they decided to go down that route. There was one season several years ago where they had one train...

[2024] Nemesis Reborn: Construction and Speculation

That's my thought as well. Scaffolding might be in the way as well too. Probably just easier to wait until everything is finished on the lift to avoid potential damage to the new track. They could definitely use joining up the last piece as part of the PR campaign as well.

[2024] Nemesis Reborn: Construction and Speculation

Might just be that they want to sort out all the lift hill painting and get the scaffolding out of the way first. The last piece is always the trickiest to connect as well so might require extra cables/equipment to persuade it into position.

[2024] Nemesis Reborn: Construction and Speculation

So who wants to bet if the last piece is going to join up and bolt together nicely with the lift hill or if they are going to have to give it a bit of gentle encouragement like they did for the Smiler?

[2024] Nemesis Reborn: Construction and Speculation

I A lot of the B&M inverts do have designs on the pods so I am sure they could do something with the colours there. Something to go with the tentacles or eyes would be cool. Also never realised that the now defunct Duelling Dragons/Dragon Challenge trains were actually styled to look like...

[2024] Nemesis Reborn: Construction and Speculation

Potentially. Does anyone know how many pieces of track are left to go in? I think it might only be 4 or 5 and these ones should be fairly easy to put in compared to the rest of the site. Definitely should be done by the end of August even with the bank holiday. Would be interesting to know if...

[2024] Nemesis Reborn: Construction and Speculation

The campaign around Nemesis was kind of forced by the construction site being so unavoidably visible to the public. You can see it from the monorail plus they wanted to keep Galactica open so guests have had to walk by the construction site every day. At least having the marketing campaign...

[2024] Nemesis Reborn: Construction and Speculation

I am not sure what people (especially some of the youtubers) were really expecting though. We had the notice of lawfulness of works (or whatever it was called) application which was pretty specific that there would be no new structures other than the addition of an extra support around the...

Does Patriot's white stripe count? Fury325 has a two-tone thing as well.

The Nemesis retrack; will it be a fluke?

I think one of the factors with the Nemesis retrack is that coaster technology, CAD design, fatigue simulation and engineering methods have improved a lot in the last 30 years. If B&M designed the ride now they would probably have reprofiled some of the sections like the helix to be kinder for...

[2024] Nemesis Reborn: Construction and Speculation

Isn't the batwing supposed to be one of the most intense things B&M have ever done? (other than the pretzel loops on their flying coasters).
