    Incident on The Smiler 02/06/2015

I've seen some people elsewhere defending the t-shirt, saying that it's regarding the rides that people have been on and anyone who thinks differently is dirty minded. It clearly isn't and it's really tacky but it doesn't deserve a newspaper article.

I think Stelios means The Smiler will reopen mid-2016 or at the start of 2017 if there's a rebrand, and that SW8 will arrive in either 2017, or more likely 2018 - not that The Smiler will be closed until then.

I think these things are like Chinese Whispers. From the ITV article: "I walked up the woman [lol!]. I said ‘Can you tell me what’s happening?’ She said, ‘There’s a technical problem, we’re dealing with it.’ I said, ‘You do know there’s a car on there don’t you?’ I was told to mind my own...

I wonder if the reason it keeps being brought up is to get her a higher amount. If the lawyer keeps saying that she'll get 'seven figures', and she's 'only' awarded a few hundred thousand when the time comes, then people are going to question why AT didn't give her more and it will make them...

I feel bad for having watched the videos really. For many people the first instinct is to film which I just can't understand. I wouldn't dare, unless I thought it was going to have any benefit - for example in this case if it was any use to the investigation, which those videos will not have...

Her parents sound so sensible - trying to ensure safety rather than being unrealistic and wanting all rides shut down.

I was on about CVs yesterday - in my 'about me' I always mention that I like going to theme parks - and I told my friend I particularly loved going to Alton Towers. She said, "Well maybe not any more!" So I told her all about this forum and how things in the news had been dramatised lol... My...

Must have been terrifying to witness. I'm not surprised he felt the need to grab his family and make a dash for the exit... If he knew there was something going on that he might not want to see, why did he go and have a nosey? Why not offer reassurance to people rather than running to guest...

I disagree with the idea of wanting to gain financially from a free ticket - I think that's morally wrong. Giving to an acquaintance is very different.

I got the impression that he complained as a 'voice' for pass holders. Around pages 64/65 a few people were in agreement that it wasn't fair - he just got in early with his complaint. When he mentioned he had planned to go on the Wednesday I think it was to try and justify complaining. He was as...

I think you're being a bit OTT. I personally wouldn't have complained - and I am one to complain about trivial things (not at AT) - but it would seem a bit insensitive given what's happened. However, I can understand why some people might find it irritating that people who may have paid next to...

I was thinking pretty much the same regarding the possible reasons for pursuing it so soon. I found it interesting that the Press Association info that Kelpie posted the other day said: "Victoria Balch, who turned 20 yesterday, is not in a life-threatening condition, as previously thought, law...

I thought I read the other day that they would honour any tickets from the 4th, 5th or 6th. The tickets might be free but don't you have to collect tokens for them or something? I don't think it's that unreasonable to hope they'll allow entry on another day. (Unless you mean because X Sector is...

I was referring to the post above by TomLad, but quoted his other post. He knew what I meant though! I had tried using Google to find the video which was taken just after the accident so that I could see what he was on about (to be fair, it is hard to spot the person), but came across the new...

I was actually looking for pictures to compare to the video when I found that new article. If you're on about the first seat in the second row back, I think they are wearing black and if you watch the video really carefully you can make out an arm. In picture 3 of 30 in The Mirror article you...

    Incident on The Smiler 02/06/2015

I can understand your point, but I disagree. There must have been some sort of plan - e.g. get an understanding of what happened, update procedures and policies, train staff, arrange counselling for any staff who required it, ensure HSE are able to do what they need to do and retrieve the cars...
