"Fading magic takes shine off Merlin’s big attractions"

I suppose midways have become saturated market, most people of their target have visited and even when you visit again not much is different

    Blackpool Pleasure Beach: General Discussion

I was at the beach today too... Baby in tow.... hard to get as many rides in as I used too.... Icon and big one down... lots of rides on revolution Then home time Hopefully they keep season pass prices low next season as days out with my son make it better

    Blackpool Pleasure Beach: General Discussion

I think it’s more panic that they can’t pay it back like they hoped why they are being greedy Perfect conditions over summer for high gate figures. Piss poor marketing meant it didn’t happen!

    Blackpool Pleasure Beach: General Discussion

Been at pleasure beach for last few days and one thing I have noticed They have definitely changed the pricing structure, probably one of the hardest parks to get discount for over the last few years, offering 2 4 1 tickets, 25% off on the door to group tickets, high price per ride to male...

Always take blackpool pleasure beach staff comments with a pinch of salt! Maybe management are hedging their bets on summer season Or maybe their aim is to turn the 500 punter days into 1500 punters off peak, and make peak days 10/15% more busier or simply sell more big blue hotel rooms/...

    Blackpool Pleasure Beach: General Discussion

Paid entry and proper gated system = schools much needed revenue stream. Midweeks in the 90’s were dead, weekends were heaving but that means more staff. This business model aims at spreading it over the season not just 10 weeks, of cause I would love a liseburg model later opening times on...

    Blackpool Pleasure Beach: General Discussion

I was in my trusty green Taron t shirt, dark shorts and black trainers so maybe! Took a few pictures of icon! I must agree Park was dead over the 2 days and literally you could walk into a seat in big one as and when you wanted to do Staff though very friendly and interacted with my baby son...

    Blackpool Pleasure Beach: General Discussion

I was on park today so saw the closures I don’t think it’s a park struggling with it’s last pennies, it’s one that is watching them day to day but I’d disagree it’s cost cutting, Big Dipper having TLC yesterday and today was having track work done on the first drop Avalanche having lift hill...

Wicker Man - General Discussion - Part Two

I generally believe Merlin wants the parks to be successful I work in the hospitality industry I have seen 2 chains run by investment arms that put another ‘specialist’ firm in charge to run day to day. All they specialise in is making returns, cut staff, and no shame reduce quality and give...

Wicker Man - General Discussion - Part Two

Wicker man - watershed moment for the U.K. theme park industry I expected a thirteen style ride, but I got an excellent re rideable coaster. As an experience definitely the best at alton Towers Only thing I would say is you can the Wardley bits to the non Wardley ones IMO

    Blackpool Pleasure Beach: General Discussion

One word... gutted. These things happen but it’s a shame it could not have done it’s 60th year. I’m not a fan of how it’s been done but I hope the park can salvage some pride and offer ride parts/ wood/ opportunity to own a part of bpb history

    Blackpool Pleasure Beach: General Discussion

Blackpool and HB leisure disagree who should improve the game areas of the park, HB Leisure rent them and believe the park should up keep them, The Park believe that HB leisure should pay some of the improvement charges as they make the money from them and would gain more from any improvement...

    Phantasialand: General Discussion

Hmm wonder when this will open.... it must be 2018 if they are building now, the theming probably could take a year to install though knowing PL

    Towers Loving Care

Liseburg is a good example. Nice small park, then young CEO with a vision transformed it into a leading park and investing into world class rides so I think it possible but would need commitment

The Sinking Ship: (Un)Love Letters to Merlin

I I would disagree, the number of people who comment on swarms themeing shows the UK public do enjoy well executed projects. The problem alton have is most of the budget is spent hiding the coaster never really much theming is added, that goes back to toussauds.

The Smiler Incident - What Happened

Oh i know and i love their coasters it was the park that sparked my intrest. Im just saying i was quite shocked the resort didnt have proper procedures in place. The same park that build fences over rita you would think they would have a set procedure. But i love towers and if any good it come...

The Smiler Incident - What Happened

I understand that we all like Alton Towers burt come on if a certain park in Blackpool did this we would all be like "OMFG its a death trap park" Lets be honest the last few years Merlins lawyers have been busy in the courts based on H&S and you would have expected them to have addressed some...

Blackpool Pleasure Beach: Icon - 2018 Mack Double Launch Coaster

In the word of john wardley "With nemesis we didnt want to build the biggest, the fastest just the best" We rip merlin apart for having a usp on each ride now we have a park that has designed a coaster that looks good. Taron, helix any ride looks drab on POV's i will wait and see :)
