Aaah, thanks @Rob - I have to say I have felt jolts in parts before but nothing to this extent, it was a proper bonerattler :( Going to try and avoid no 4 in future haha!
This is a bit of a random question but I visited the park the other week and went on Smiler twice and both times it was horrible, really rough and I actually felt a bit dizzy coming off it. I remember people on here saying one of the trains is pretty rough...anyone know what number it is? I...
I don't know how to tag people (d'oh) so hoping you'll see this belongtothesmiler - I'm a size 18 and never have any bother getting into anything (some rides are a bit tight but not uncomfortably so). I went last year with a mate who was maybe a size 20-22 at the time and she got on everything...
An update on one of the kids injured at the M&D's crash has gone online today. It's on www.glasgowlive.co.uk - I can't cut and paste the link but its on the news section
"And only 14 months after it crashed" - opening line from the BBC...urgh.
The Smiler rollercoaster at Alton Towers has broken down mid-ride - 14 months after it crashed leaving five people seriously injured.
Aaah I've just realised that there's a whole thread on here I've somehow missed...d'oh (I'm at work, blame the distraction of that!) on Scarefest so I'm sure that'll have everything I need to know.
Hi all. I'm really interested in coming down for Scarefest, but I need to try and rope one of my mates into coming too (I can't drive :() so I need some more info. Is it really busy or manageable queues then? Is there a better time to visit? What are the mazes like, are they really creepy...
When I was down in May everything was closed at one point or another (already posted about this!), but when we got in to the queue for Th13teen it went down too - we could see them testing the trains because we were at the top of the stairs, and there was once they sent a train around and it...
I wondered if it was my imagination the last time I was there, I was on three times and the first two rides were fine, but the last one was like a proper bonerattler! I guess it depends what car you get then?
Just found this online as well. I think, although you got the usual "coasters should be banned" people when The Smiler crashed, most people I saw seemed to be saying they couldn't believe it had happened because they felt AT was so safe, whereas everything I'm seeing about this is it was an...
Here's another pic from FB, errr maybe don't read the caption if easily offended.

Thanks for this Tygra, I was wondering if the weather would have an affect. I'm in Stirling and it's been miserable here today but wasn't sure what it was like through there (although I did see some people in ponchos in those pics). I'm hoping that by the fact we haven't specifically heard...
According to the Daily Record (rag, I know), it did land on the kiddie's ride. But jeez, that wheel - if that's where it landed (assuming it hasn't been moved), imagine if it'd hit someone?!
That photo on the Sky News link...I don't think I can see any emergency services. Do you think it's landed that way?!
ETA: the first photo I mean, where it looks upside down on top of the kiddies ride?
My mate's mate (I know!) was there with her kid and she said it looks horrific. Still people trapped when she was there. I don't live that far but I've never been so not familiar with what the coaster is like.
