    Blackpool Pleasure Beach: 2023 Discussion

Don't most people in the UK still use imperial measurements for body measurements? (height, waist, weight) I imagine safety laws mandate cms must be posted, but human nature uses inches to set the values.

    Air or Galactica?

I would really like them to box in the departure tunnel, maybe extend it part way up the lift hill with a tent. Then add some projection mapping and audio to make a show around the launch. You could have 1 station setup as Galactica, the other showing a different launch theme of Air... Market...

    Your favourite "Disney rip-off" attraction?

A good call... I enjoyed it just as much as IASW, although it is to a smaller scale. Arguably better, but it's pretty much an equal to me. Chessington has Zufari, which is a nice ride, but doesn't come close to the Animal Kingdom original. There are many Big Thunder Mountains, but nothing...

    Broome Era Towers

There is a glimpse of AT featuring the band Darts at 18:30 on this TOTP video: Unusual view from inside a coaster that I doubt would be allowed these days.

    Paultons Park: General Discussion

Just looking at the menus in Peppa Pig World, and the kids meals do include Ham sandwiches, or you can get Ham and Cheese pizza; so Paulton's clearly don't think kids are going to see the association.

    Paultons Park: General Discussion

A PP Hotel feels more like a Merlin answer, put some vinyls over a cheap hotel to add £100 on to the room rate. Paultons, to date, have wanted to charge a premium for a superior product. A nice 3 or 4 star hotel, with some themed rooms, would be ideal. More Europa Park than Thorpe Park.

    Paultons Park: General Discussion

The super simple designs of buildings in Peppa Pig would be the sort of thing Merlin would do for a hotel... and indeed are doing... https://www.merlinentertainments.biz/newsroom/news-releases/2021/merlin-entertainments-announces-world-s-first-standalone-peppa-pig-resort-in-sichuan-china/ I do...

    2022: General Discussion

Kids pass do £1 trial months. I suspect you might need to retain membership until March to receive the tickets, to stop anybody "taking advantage" of that and just buying these tickets ☹️.

    Blackpool Pleasure Beach: 2021 Discussion

Spinning seats have to be on the back row if they want to retain 4 seats on a unit, as it's the only position people won't be kicking the row behind. Is there potential for punching a new main queue doorway a few metres earlier, to free up some space for 2 queues at the Speedy Pass merge? I...

    Blackpool Pleasure Beach: 2021 Discussion

I am expecting the "more sustainable" angle to mean we get video mapped flames and a blast of warm air, rather than gas powered flames. I am expecting a few areas to use video mapping effects to make the ride feel more contemporary. I just want boats that can drain themselves properly so you...

    London Entertainment Resort: All Discussion

I would imagine it will easily make that duration, only another 11 months until this thread reaches that age; and probably still appeals, referrals to central government, legal manoeuvres etc. to go through.

2022 Speculation and CBeebies Land additions

Reopening the 3D theatre with a Walliams based show would be a good bet for 2022. No need for planning permission for that, and a relatively cheap option. I always wonder if the driving school could get a new track built on the area between Spinball and Octonauts. I suspect that won"t happen...

    The Retrosquad: General Discussion

I maintain NST should be opened as a cafe, as the name Nemesis Sub Terrace is too good to pass on.

Or maye Amanda has plans for a little "accident" to happen over the closed season ;-)

    The Retrosquad: General Discussion

Retro Squad was a very sensible way to deal with the UKs Covid rules at the start of the 2021 season, where indoor attractions could not operate. AT played a blinder here by giving people "value" when Hex Duel etc. we're closed, something new for 2021 and committing to the full season. I don't...

    Blackpool Pleasure Beach: General Discussion

Streak is great fun, smoothest woodie in the park. The station setup and single train operation gives it a low throughput, that is unlikely to be improved any time soon. I tend to look at the queue, and only join it if it's inside the station. The queue length varies quite a lot throughout...

What's the right price for a theme park admission?

This pattern of paying less for goods is just a continuation of the industrial revolution. It used to cost a fortune to buy pepper, pineapples, cutlery, cloth etc., until mass production decimated prices. CDs, DVDs and video games have found their distribution model replaced with a mass...

    Secret Weapon Backfired

As we all know, Alton Towers likes nothing more than a world's first, with its secret weapon developments. In the long term, could this cause AT the same issues BPB has, where their historic rides start to get listed and they cannot remove them? Nemesis and Oblivion stand out as rides that...

[2024] Nemesis Reborn: Construction and Speculation

I think a rebuild like Python at Efteling will be the eventual outcome. A season of, get your last ride on Nemesis, a years downtime, then come back for Nemesis 2, with new vehicles with audio, extra theming, maybe a new station interior etc. That would be as marketable as a new SW.

    Alton Towers Oktoberfest 2020

Are these the units in Forbidden Valley now, e.g. the donuts and closed units by Nemesis (hidden by bending machines, but with unused kitchens etc.)?
