    Thorpe Park: General Discussion

The IP doesn't bring a lot to this attraction, merely adds to the jungle theme which could still be done without the IAC branding. The clear reason for adding this branding is for marketing reasons. I've already seen it listed on many sites (including TV guides) which is more free advertising...

    Welcoming Our New Contributors!

Hello all, A big thank you to all who sent in suggestions for this round of TowersStreet Contribute. We had a great time looking through them as a team and found it incredibly difficult to whittle them down to just four. So, without any further ado, the successful contributors and their...

    SeaWorld meltdown

I watched this documentary yesterday and although feeling like some of it was very much biased on the animal rights side of things, I found the 'risk your life or get out of the way for someone else who will' attitude held by Seaworld rather shocking. In addition to the fact that knowing Tilikum...

    Old Guidebooks

Awesome, thank you. Looking at the pattern it seems that each guidebook was used for two years before being replaced...1959, 1961, 1963, 1965, 1967...which could make the blue one (with white sleeve) 1969/1970. However I am well aware that times were beginning to change in the early seventies so...

    Old Guidebooks

Hello, I have started to build a collection of old guidebooks and have made a start on dating them. Unfortunately many of them carry no references to any sort of dates in the early years so I am estimating by the attraction arrivals and departures. It would seem however that AT decided to add...

Wanted : Alton Towers Maps Pre-1997

Hello, I am looking for anyone who may have collected, or have a duplicate, of any Alton Towers maps between 1990 and 1998 and would be willing to let them go. I have kept an eye on eBay but not a lot comes up at the moment with the exception of a bargain £5 60s guidebook! Please PM me if you...

    Driving 'Altonia'

Thanks both, Andrew, the pictures you show are the same as the ones in the AT book by Peter Scott, I am really looking for some side and front profiles (a long shot I know!). I will try and contact the OKLR again. Thanks, Ben

    Driving 'Altonia'

'Altonia' visits the Ffestiniog Railway. I know this is a long shot, but does anyone have any images of the coaches of the AT railway? I have the book by Peter Scott, but I am looking for some more 'close up' pictures as I can't seem to contact the Old Kiln Railway? Ben

    Driving 'Altonia'

I did start a 'Rio' as seen at places such as Paultons and Lightwater - however they are very difficult to obtain drawings for as the commercial companies are less willing to release them. Similar with the Thorpe Park Railway - the locos there are Severn Lamb 'Jupiters' if I remember correctly...

    Driving 'Altonia'

Hello, A bit of background on me - I model for Microsoft Train Simulator and have done now for 6 years creating a variety of miniature gauge and narrow gauge models. It is a relatively old simulator and several new ones have appeared on the market, however I still prefer working with MSTS. I...

    Alton's Miniature Railway Locomotives

The third Baguley locomotive is at the Amerton Railway, there are lots of pictures on their website. The engine in it was started for the first time recently, the first step in getting it running again. Edit - The video is here http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=1Uz7fNreGA8 Ben

    Thorpe Park: General Discussion

Thorpe Park Presumably they could re-open the railway with very little work, as all of the rolling stock still exists at the park? It's one of the things that immediately appeals to families because of it's gentle nature. Ben

    Alton's Miniature Railway Locomotives

Nice to see a video of her running - I too will hopefully be making a trip to see her this year. Will send off an email to find out the dates the heritage Alton set will be running! On another note - 'Brora', 'Altonia's' virtually identical sister's brass looks a lot worse! See...
