    Monorail Refurbishment

I like this idea, it wouldn’t take much to improve the look of the monorail - giving merlin time to save their pennies for new trains

    Alton Towers 16th April 2021

I was there yesterday and couldn’t agree more with dark forest first - it’s a great strategy especially with thirteen having such long queue times at the moment. There’s nothing like a launch on rita to wake you up in the morning (without being at Thorpe of course!). I always forget how good...

    2021: General Discussion

I get the point but where do you draw the line? If half of the big coasters have closed queues for much of the day it’s not great. X-sector is crowded at the best of times so it’s understandable to shut smiler periodically because of distancing. But forbidden valley and dark forest has a bit...

    2021: General Discussion

Smiler at capacity on a chilly April weekday at 7pm. There is definitely the demand for longer hours!

    2021: General Discussion

It looked awful this afternoon. Paint peeling and graffiti all over the place. A real shame as the ride is quality, it just looks a state at the minute. On the plus side at least covid is giving it the queue times it deserves!

    Quick Questions

Worse still, last time I checked they are still displaying 'on the day' prices which aren't even available

    2020: General Discussion

Was massively overstated, we just had to wait for the next pre-show and were straight in (30 mins was stated). Distance markers on the floor in each section of the ride was easy to follow and still made for a very enjoyable Hex experience!

    Thorpe Park: General Discussion

Maybe they are thinking about extending the season to make up for it - similar to BPB

    Monorail Refurbishment

Someone saying they heard rumours of the monorail closing in the future due to parts shortages. Would baffle me due to the number of trains (surely parts could be cannibalised)

    Monorail Refurbishment

Just saw this on Facebook: Of course I’m questioning the credibility but just wondered if anyone had heard something similar, or had a reason to believe it might be true.

    2019: General Discussion

They've already jumped on the wicker man closure for clicks

Do you find The Smiler rough?

On occasion it can be rough through the later inversions, but never uncomfortable.

    2019: General Discussion

Completely agree, just some sort of indication before people might have to leave to get to the park. At least it allows them to make a decision - and stops them having to answer hundreds of questions about wicker man every day!

    2019: General Discussion

I do remember Thorpe posting detailed updates on stealth's repair a couple of years ago. I think it's reasonable not to expect them to massively publicise it, but a bit of transparency from towers would go a long way.

Wicker Man - General Discussion - Part Two

Not that I can see. The Sun have been surprisingly quiet - likely due to their currently running ticket offer!

Wicker Man - General Discussion - Part Two

I spotted that too. Sent an email to their corrections dept so hopefully it's changed soon. As with most of these papers it's lazy journalism, (if you could even call it that). The media love a good article about towers these days.

    First SW to be Removed?

Would be great to see Sub-terra back open, sadly I cannot see this happening. Merlin should remove attractions which clearly have no operational future.

    2018: General Discussion

I haven’t been to Towers this year but what people are describing (3hrs to get in, and one ride by 3pm) sounds bad. But is this not a positive sign? It seems that the number of people drawn in by Wicker Man has far exceeded the park’s expectations. Maintenance and relatively low staffing may...

    First SW to be Removed?

The B&Ms could go forever if they want to - hopefully nemesis will!! I would agree that The Smiler will start to cost a lot soon as new trains or even a re-track could be necessary in the medium term. Interesting point about the Rita site though. I hadn’t really considered it but I suppose there...
