    The Smiler - General Discussion

Yeah but it is still a bit too quiet. Just turning it up a little bit would be perfect. On a different topic, they really need to lose that strobe in the correction block. Other than that, effects were working great last week. The innoculator was working and the projection mappings look really...

    2019: General Discussion

Anyone know what's going on with Enterprise? It was closed all day today and I noticed that all of the cars had been taken off; you can see from the Oblivion queue.

Do you find The Smiler rough?

Same. Had three rides on it today and it wasn't rough at all. The train had a rattle, but that didn't bother me in the slightest honestly. Funnily enough, on my first ride, my friend (GP who hasn't ridden before) said he got headbanging whereas it was butter smooth for me. We were front row, he...

Do you find The Smiler rough?

Eh, it's strange how much of a marmite coaster this one is among enthusiasts. I really enjoy the theming and haven't had a rough ride on it so far, but my god does it needs a repaint. Despite that, it's still my number 1 at the park personally. I don't really care about roughness if the layout...

    The Smiler - General Discussion

I highly doubt it. They wouldn't have reopened it if they weren't willing to maintain it. Besides, it still draws in plenty of guests. I hear that the pit has been jetwashed as well as the return of SRQ, so they are doing something.

Coventry to AT by public transport?

Hey everyone! I'm in my first year studying at Warwick University, which is much closer to Alton than home, and was wondering what the best way to use public transport to get to AT would be. I know there's the shuttle bus which leaves from Stoke and Uttoxeter, but how reliable is it? Can...

    2018: General Discussion

Seems to me like they're considering scrapping the Galactica VR. Last time I used it, it was horrible off centre and it ruined the experience. Let's hope we can convince Towers to give it some good TLC. Nemesis' track looked horrible before its 2016 TLC, so there's no reason why the Smiler...

Little Changes: What would you do?

Well, even with the odd dead-screen, the marmaliser still looks fantastic. It's just the inside section which lets it down IMO. If the projection mapping is too hard to maintain then maybe they should replace it with some other theming. Perhaps regular screens instead. I'd love it if they made...

Little Changes: What would you do?

Restore the original Smiler theming, and just give it TLC in general. They did a fantastic job with Nemesis, so there's no reason that the Smiler can't have the same treatment.

Do you find The Smiler rough?

To compare, what state was Saw in at 5 yrs old? Was it better or worse than present Smiler?

    2018: General Discussion

Do any of you expect to hear much more from this story after the lawsuit? I hope it will conclude after this. :confused1:

Do you find The Smiler rough?

I don't suppose the mist from the Innoculator/Giggler helps.

Do you find The Smiler rough?

I think its the shape of them rather than the material, since the Oblivion and Nemesis restraints are rock solid, but are less snug than the Gerst OSTRs. Personally, I always thought they were quite soft and comfy and haven't had restraint problems.

    Evacuation creds

X:// No Way Out (back when it went backwards in pitch plack) It was well into winter, and the train stopped at one of those straight sections as usual but didn't start again. All of the lights turned on and we were escorted from the platform down some spiral stairs.Remember, this was when the...

    Galactica: General Discussion

How's Galactica doing these days? I rode it at scarefest 2016 and the VR worked fine, but rode it again the year after and it was horribly misaligned and off-centre. I have never been a fan of VR, and the headsets feel so loose. Has it improved at all this year?

Funny things you've overheard people say in queuelines

Two chavs talking to each other in the Swarm queue, on the bridge above the lift. One says to the other (looking at the lift chain) "that's one big bicycle chain!"

Do you find The Smiler rough?

I find it okay. As other people have said it has a rattle, but its not painful. I don't come off with a migraine like I do on Saw... Also I'm about 6'2

Channel 4 2018 Alton Towers Documentary

That's one bloated, desperate-for-attention title, but nothing new for the Daily Mail. Looking forward to Inside AT on Thursday. Hopefully I'll learn something new about the park :)
