    "Danger of Death"

Legoland Discovery Centre in Manchester had similar signs in September 2014: https://photos.google.com/share/AF1QipNwGHiGFs048crKlfsqyDfh5tB7cHJtsgsEZR8qEpyP-0c7Q07FEtonTbhmhE27HQ?key=aVl3N0VLMVBzTVlPSTh0WDNZYXhBMFAxLTY2YWRB

    Media Coverage of Alton Towers

That headline actually made me laugh out loud. The media are clearly milking any incident for all the linkbait it's worth. It's a shame as it's not doing the park's reputation any favours. The sensationalist reporting of minor technical issues seems to be making the general public question the...

    Fireworks 2013

I loved the whole display and as others have said I thought it was the best it's been since 2010. The music selection complimented the rides imho. I even liked the way they had mashed up the hahahahaha Smiler bit into 'I Love It'. It felt like they'd tried to squeeze a few too many songs into...

Alton Towers and lack of social media

It's something that affects the guest's experience, possibly even before they've walked through the gates. I think Alton used to deal with queries better when they ran the separate @ATGuestServices account on Twitter. From what I've seen they now seem to respond primarily to positive feedback...

    VIP Experiences

It looks like a last minute attempt to get something on the website to showcase what they can offer for VIP guests, but have chosen awful examples. If that's the best they can suggest, they don't deserve to be charging anyone prices 'from £150'. For example it'd be more logical to have table...

    Thorpe Park: General Discussion

Re: Thorpe Park It wouldn't surprise me if they charged for the mazes, especially considering they're using an IP and overhauling a lot of them. I don't mind paying as long as the quality is there. However, charging an event fee (for standard pass holders) and maze entry isn't ideal value for...

    Cigarettes sold in Towers Trading

As a non-smoker, I agree with this. As long as I'm not in a confined space, it doesn't bother me. I find it strange that they've decided to treat e-cigarettes in the same way as regular cigarettes though.

    Scare rooms 2013

I did the scare room in 2010 when it was themed around Thirteen. It was worth doing, but not something that I'd do every year; partly due to the expense. The experience is fun, especially with a group, and not as scare maze. There are a few good moments, where the actors used misdirection...

    Scarefest 2013: Discussion

I think that's the main problem. We've seen the park lit and themed perfectly for the event in the past and a lot of that has been lost. It's all the small touches (coloured filters on lighting, skeletons on X-Sector fencing, flashing spotlights coming from the base of Oblivion, etc...). I...

    Going Against The Grain

I like Submission. :-[ Although few people agree so I rarely ride it. Since Ripsaw's been running on such rubbish settings Submission is the closest thing Alton has to a decent flat ride.

    Scarefest 2013: Discussion

I'd love to see Merlin run a Halloween event as a separate admission. Universal Studios and Europa Park operate halloween like this and it means that the event can develop as it's own entity. As long as the quality and quantity is there, I don't think most guests would mind paying the extra...

    Scarefest 2013: Discussion

Carnival used to share a hired marquee with Boiler House when it was at the hotels. The entrance facade is still the same. You can just about see the marquee in the bottom left of this photo: https://fbcdn-sphotos-c-a.akamaihd.net/ ... 8472_n.jpg

    Scarefest 2013: Discussion

The website's been updated since, with the image for Franklyn's Freaky Zone changed and the text about ToTT being included with your park ticket removed. Events like this should get better year on year, but I can't help but feel underwhelmed with Scarefest at the moment. Mazes should be...

    The Smiler - General Discussion

They can't win whether they announce The Smiler is closed or not, but putting an update on the website homepage is the least they should do. They used to update the ticker on the website when the sky ride was unavailable. Posting other updates to social media and selectively answering some...

    Wardley's autobiography published

If you buy it on Kindle (there's an app for iOS and Android), you should get the most up to date version. It's also cheaper than the bodged paperback. It's ridiculous that Towers are charging £15.99 for an outdated copy of the book. ::)

    Wardley's autobiography published

Yep, which is kind of ironic considering the signed paperback being sold in The Smiler shop doesn't contain anything about The Smiler (or Thirteen). It explains why the final chapter in the paperback ended quite abruptly as well. I wonder whether Alton Towers requested for this to be removed...
