It sounds like so far the places that Aramark have opened new from scratch have been decent, like the Gloomy Wood treats, FV chicken, turkey legs in World of Jumanji etc, but the places they’ve inherited are just garbage like Burger Kitchen, Just Chicken etc… would it be fair to say maybe...
The Croc Drop clone is almost finished.
Something to add to the random mix of British Merlin park rides they’ve added in recent years!

It really is lovely! Credit where credit's due. A few years ago that would've just been a couple of machines shoved in a bog standard box covered in vinyls.
Wicker Man’s officially always been “near Mutiny Bay”, not in it, although I see they’ve finally given up on that this year and have accepted it’s in Mutiny Bay according to the new map. So I’ll let them off on that one ;)
It’s going to be tricky fitting Galactica in with the Nemesis and...
Somebody mentioned weeks ago they could theme the shop as a supply store to gear up for entering Forbidden Valley.
The new shop has indeed got “Supply Store” written at the top.
I still wouldn’t rule it out!
Merlin have always been pretty fluid with park areas and their boundaries.
EDIT to...
I think the fact is has a staff entrance path, plus an entrance & exit path winding through the trees suggests it will be for guest use. It’s the same design as Survival Games at Thorpe Park. Exciting!
Yeah I don’t get why they’ve bothered with that Burger King! They’ve replaced wood cladding with wood cladding. It still looks kinda western! Expected it to be black and gold panelling like Hyperia’s station. Would normally assume it’s not finished but they’ve put the signage up already. Weird!
Not my cup of tea either but to be fair they’ve purposely themed the cinema to an actual cinema, so doesn’t really matter if the film is a different theme. And means they can change out the film more often - this film might only last a couple of years.
I think it could be a nice idea, living in South London I feel like these street food places are literally everywhere I go and they're always popular, adds a bit of a different vibe to the standard food outlets, it should allow the park to experiment a bit with different food options too which...
I’d be surprised if it ever does get rethemed to fit in with Forbidden Valley. It’s always been its own thing since it opened, it’s far away enough from the main area to not interfere. Would be amazing if they did ever do it but can’t see it happening personally!
I just think of Galactica as...
Thorpe Park is a very small park. Since 2007, Hyperia has taken the same spot that Loggers Leap had, and Thorpe Farm has been totally removed, with the Swarm being much closer to the park - in fact, on the 2007 map the Swarm’s spot is literally just water, and Saw’s spot is taken up by an...
The maps/apps for Chessington, Europa Park (and Phantasialand? And I’m sure many other parks) all have GPS built into them to do just that but still show scale of the rides and present them in a much more exciting way. But each to their own!
And Paris is a bit more famous than Thorpe Park, but...
Hard disagree for me. The map is just as important for marketing as it is navigation IMO. A map can still be easy to follow and be 3D and attractive. See the 2007 map posted earlier.
People see the park in 3D in real life. Surely the coasters are much easier to see in 3D than flat lines...
Not necessarily true, the IP for Saw was brought in relatively late in the project, after planning docs were submitted in November 2007. It was originally designed as a generic abandoned western theme to fit with Canada Creek (complete with western style windmill!).
The plans were resubmitted...
Tea cups were given the Storm in a Tea Cup theme to fit with Amity in 2004, and had WWTP's Big Bob doing the announcements but the park always listed them under Calypso Quay for some reason. Then when they brought the areas back a few years ago they listed the tea cups under Amity. But yes they...
2 main observations from me.
One - seems strange to build the UK’s tallest coaster but opt for your map to be a 2D top-down view meaning you don’t see the height of the new ride.
Two - they’ve very clearly put defined areas back on the map again here, but haven’t put area names on. This...
