Nothing has been confirmed for VIP yet, I wouldn't be 100% sure either

I think a lot of people have made the assumption that it will work the same as Warwick Castle. Extra for standard pass holders but one free visit per day (subject to availability) for premium.

But they haven’t announced this yet either way and nothing has been added to the T&Cs to specifically reference the AT Dungeons.

Edit: it does seem that on social media on a few posts they are now saying Merlin passes do not include the Dungeons, whereas before they were saying more details would be available soon.

Will be a bit of a kick in the teeth for MAP holders that they can go and do any dungeon in the county for free (much better and longer dungeons no doubt), yet they won’t be able to visit the Alton Towers ones without paying.

Personally I can’t see many people paying.

What makes it worse is those people who own a season pass (and have spent a lot less) will be able to visit for free once a day.

Only premium season passholders get into the Dungeon for free.

I am fully expecting premium Merlin passholders to get in free too, same as Warwick Castle.

If it’s not included from the start then it’ll be added later, didn’t they do that with Shrek?

Those who can’t wait until it becomes included will pay up which is probably what Towers are hoping for

So the social media team are stating the Dungeons are not included on the Merlin Annual Pass, but do not state if this is tier specific or is blanket across all of them.

Just burn the sodding thing to the ground now. Save the misery come opening day.

Keep In mind the merlin VIP team (mostly map team) say LDC Birmingham isn't included...
Yet we still get it (just not free prebooks9

It needs to be communicated regardless, especially considering it's the MAP sale. Given how hard the high ups in Merlin push the individual attractions to sell sell sell (oh how I don't miss the MAP sales taking over my life anymore), I'm surprised they haven't mentioned it. Unless they're waiting to see the sale results and then deciding whether or not they can get away with charging the majority MAP holders.

On the positive side, at least a closed ride from 2016 is back in use! Surely that's a good thing, is it not?

It shouldn't have closed in the first place. This is exactly the same thing as what happened when Merlin made towers opening times dreadful with staggered openings last year. People complained so they made them better but still worse than 2017. Once again, this is happening. Instead of having a dark ride, it closed for 3 years and when it does reopen, we get a worse version of what was inside.

There is a reason why for merlin it worked for opening times and sadly that's happening again with the dungeons. For every step forward the park is making, the park takes 2 steps back. Wicker Man is great but then the coasters lose single rider

Don't forget that Charlie closed due to the licence running out, although we don't know if they were refused a renewal or just didn't want to renew the licence.

If the park were so desperate, they could have returned the attraction. I know the licence ran out but that doesn't really excuse having a major family dark ride closed for 3 years

What a mess. It seems they have more pricing elements than a Chinese takeaway and now it's just causing confusion.

I am not paying £5 to waste an hour and a bit out of my 6 quality hours of precious riding time for an attraction I can travel to 20 minutes away and access for free :tearsofjoy:

    I don't see the confusion.

Book online and park entry is £33 or £38 with Dungeon.
At the gate its £56 or £63.50 with Dungeon (and you get standard season pass).
Use a voucher at the gate and pay £7.50 per person to add the dungeon, or prebook the add-on for £5.

Premium Season Passholders (and I assume, but needs confirming, premium MAP) get one entry per day and need to book on the day (same as Warwick Castle Dungeon).
Standard Season Passholders (and standard MAP) need to pay £7.50 on the day or prebook for £5 if they want the Dungeon.

Basically if you don't have a premium pass you pay £5 or £7.50 to add on the Dungeon.

Ride used to be free, replacement is not.

Merlin's history with actor based attractions is awful.

Ride that was for all the family has now taken out the young end of the market.

Just because something has been replaced doesn't mean it's a positive...

It surprises me that the Warwick Dungeons have survived this long as an upcharge attraction. What percentage of standard pass holders actually pay to go in? Enough for them to justify this stupid rule and build another attraction under the same pricing model? Eugh.
